Hi guys,

this idea comes out of a parallel thread, but I thought I'd post it to see what people/developers think.

Commander-deployable spawns exist, and I hope that we'll see some form in FH2. I do not like uncappable static main bases, although the more "military-style camps" you see in later FH maps are a huge improvement, as are the more spread out main bases--> more difficult to camp.

That said, armies in WWII rarely had a "main base" on the front; reinforcements arrived by trucks or trains or planes or foot or whatever.

Submitted for your approval: commander-deployed reinforcement points. I envision an area at each teams' "side" of a map, within which a commander could deploy reinforcement trucks, for example. We already have C-47 transports that allow people to spawn, why not a robot or remotely-controlled truck convoy? That's for infantry.

For heavier weapons, it'd be neat to allow the commander to "place" tanks on the map; a team would have a store of armored vehicles that re-spawns, but doesn't automatically get placed on the map. Thus, whenever a Tiger is available, the commander could choose to place it at a spot of his choice within a certain radius of his team's staging area.

This would prevent spawnraping and basecamping to a large degree, as attacking teams would have to cover a far larger area and couldn't anticipate exactly where defending units would pop up.

Naturally, this idea would only apply to "assault" maps and replace the current "uncappable mainbase" idea; it would not make sense in conquest maps where you can currently cap all flags/spawn points.

I always like this sort of thing. How do you envision a way to limit where the spots could be placed? In terms of proximity to an objective? Or placing a point alll the way on the pther side of the map. I wouldnt mind seeing these spots for only a very short period of time. Maybe one or two spawn waves. Or I guess just time them.

I was thinking of having a pre-defined area at the border of a map (like we currently have uncap lines around bases) within which the commander could deploy or launch these.

As for infantry spawns, I thought something like 2-3 trucks that drive up, stop for a minute or so, then turn around and leave, allowing anyone to spawn on them within that period of time

That might allow it to work in conquest maps too. With the loss of the flags, the commander would lose a predefined deployment area, if the team loses all the flags, the commander has no areas left to deploy a spawn point.

Yeah--I was trying to keep this totally separate from "commander-deployed spawn points" as such, though. Really only as a replacement for the current "uncappable yet campable mainbase" system.

Good point, though.

I would like something like that! You mean the commander could choose to have a mobile spawn spawn? Are they AI controlled? Wouldn't they take up spots then?

I had a suggestion similar to this one once. I thought maybe we could incorporate a point system or something like that [quote=foodmaniac2003]Point system: The supply drops, arty bombing, which vehicles spawn and etc. should be controlled by a point system. supply drops, arty, and plane bombings will be worth a certain number of "points".

The commander starts out with a set number of points and abilites, according to historical accuracy (who wants to be artyed on Rheinuebung?).

The commander will also be able to choose between which vehicles spawn, this way, there will be more communication between the commander and other troops. For example, a Tiger could be worth 75 points, while a Kublewagon, 5 points. The commander could trade in the Tiger for 15 Kubelwagons (if this ever happens commit mutiny).

OF course, there will be limits according to historical accuracy and the number of heavier tanks and planes in one squad.

Fuzzy, I absolutly LOVE the idea of this. Uncappable main bases are retarded. The fact that one side is restricted to this land is stupid. If they wanted that land they could have it. Would just need to work. ANYWays I like this 100% No more mains. No more flags. Objective mode, restricted (realistic) mobile spawns all the way.

i got an idea, since a lot of people tryed to suggest trains, how about a commander controlled train! people spawn on the train, and everytime it hits a depot, ammo and supplies drop out, but people can jump out whenever they want!

Excellent idea, sniper--I recall that someone had a working train in BF1942 (BF1918?)
