Here is an idea. When a sub is running on the surface how about having the captain standing on top of the conning tower & able to look around a bit rather than having to look through the periscope? As soon as you get the deck awash you would switch to periscope view. Just an idea. Thanks.:smokin:

You can do this. You exit the sub and stand on the conning tower and look around.

Then a 'teammate' spawns on the sub, takes it, and dives... You exit a sub at your own peril. Seems like a good idea to me.

Maybe, FH2 subs should be slightly different. It may take a bit of work, but I think idealy, subs should have an inside. Not that you can run around in em, but like the newer APCs in FH0.7, you can see around and this is what you see: There are 2 places - The one who fires the tubes and the captian/ driver a) The catain sees a full screen minmap to be able to drive the sub, you get to have radar, you get to detect between ship kinds and if you get the surface, you can switch using tank site view to use the periscope and see the surface. b) The torperdo gunner's view: he sees the captian looking through a periscope and the interior of the sub and hears the sounds of engines humming - Add serious shake to this when a depth charge blows close by and you are in Submarine heaven c) The driver/ captain aims at a target, left clicks and both guys hear a "Fire torpedo", the spotted vehicle appears in the minimap, the gunner fires you decide to exit the sub, you have the pull-out graphics of the person emerging from the top (Like FH did to the MG top tank gunner) you can then decide to hold the deck gun by walking up to it and entering it, or the Mgs in the same way, but I personally prefer that these are not included as number 3 and 4 spawn points whiles you are in the sub - It's too acrcadey About the conning tower, once you emerge, you are at the conning tower and if the squad based uniform and kit system is followed, a naval group captain would have binculars and that lovely dress code of the Us, Britian, Japanese, Red or German army.... so there, everyone's happy

*** Disclaimer - I am not a coder so what words follow may be harmful to more educated eyes. *** What might be nice is to have a deal like the positon on the back of tanks (Stug 3 comes to mind) for a lookaround. ALSO - Subs need a point of entry system, i.e., if someone is already in the sub you cannot advance above them. This has been suggested for the Priest and other arty to keep someone from getting and and driving away while you are trying to aim/shoot. It does suck when you surface for whatever reason to be ultimately reduced to shark bait. A couple of underwater-safe spots for crew members that could man the guns when surfaced or slip away on a raft (Fuzzy's idear?) for a claudestine shore landing would rock. Yes this has been talked about a bit but obviously has some interest with a lot of folks (me included!)

Oh GOD please!!! There is NOTHING worse than some IDIOT NOOB deciding to drive the 'artillery tank' to the front when you were getting good spots for the artillery. DUDE! You are driving a trunk loaded with high explosives into the firing line!! I don't mind when they take the Priest before I get to it, and drive it to the front. I know they will die right away and then it will spawn again. Ok ok, stopping off topic rant now.

I love this idea... I can imagine it in my mind. The creaking sound from the steel when you dive deep under the water. all the shaking in the sub when a depth charge explode near you  I think the driver should see more then just the map. of the interior i mean. too just see the map like in fh42 is too boring.

Well in BF2 there is an underwater, so it's not necssessary to have just the map, as I would like it if you could look around underwater and see the bottom of ships.

You can see underwater in our subs right now, but you can only see about 50 feet. You hit the ship before you see it (theres a reason why they used sonar to see).
