Well, after a month of almost continue diagnostics, the people at my dad's work place think they know what the problem was. They believe it was a virus that disabled Norton while others were downloaded and corrupted a whole lot of things, mainly in the user.exe.

They are basically going to wipe the hard drive clean, but they will also upgrade it to Windows 2000, 512 mb ram, 2.6 ghz processor, and perhaps I'll be able to keep the CD burner as well...

My dad brought it back today along with twenty CD-RWs so I could copy what I want to save. So, for the last hour I have been copying about three gigabytes of files that I want to save, mostly projects I had been working on in Photoshop and my entire Jedi Knight directory which at the moment is 1.6 gbs large, excluding screenshots. If I have enough time I am going to try to copy everything that I can besides the installed games and other things that I know for sure I can download again such as some of the major Battlefield 1942 mods.

The only problem with this goal is that the burner can only copy things so fast and the night is quickly passing by. The other problem is that everything on my computer is a result of about 7000 hours of work in two and a half years, obviously I won't be able to find everything in all the many folders and directories on the computer....

why cant you just not copy JK onto the disc and just use your JK2 Disk to install it later?

First off, I am talking about Dark Forces II, the one from 1997, I gave the game to a friend two years ago, and Jedi Academy or Outcast doesn't install Dark Forces II. :) As for help, I tried to upgrade to Windows 2000, but then when it begins to install it tells me it can't write to C drive, donn't know what the problem is. I have plenty of memory left...

Man.

That really sucks. COuldn't ya just e-mail all of the files to one of your friends, and than have him/her send it back when you're all set up again? Might not take as long as burning a bunch of cds. Would have to send it in parts though. Hmmmm.....

Is the C Drive your main harddrive? When i upgraded to Windows XP, it changed my harddrive to drive E. Very annoying cause most installer s are set up to instll to the C drive. Hope this helps in some way and good luck.
