I like this map. Once I got in a game and there were literally 40 planes in the air all dogfighting! I was able to get in an unofficial formation with some other Hellcats, and we rocked. Just keep it the way it is.
Hellcats? On Coral Sea? The Hellcat was not introduced until 1943, and Coral Sea was in the early summer or late spring of 1942.
I do believe you mean the F4F-3 Wildcat.
Grizzly, you know what I would do with that MG34? Hop in a fighter, fly low and fast, then ditch (crash land) my plane in the ocean and run up the beach. Deploy the MG, and camp to my hearts content! The addition of rifles, sub-machine guns, machineguns, to air war maps is a terrible idea.
40? *Sneezes* :D
How about to fix the Coral Sea problem of having people bailing in the ocean and suiciding, you can add floatplanes or later on, when you get them, flying boats? They wouldn't be too much of a threat to the carriers as long as you didn't give them their torpedos or bombs. Perhaps you could have a cargo ship or some small craft capable of patrolling around? Life rafts spawning when planes are destroyed would also be nice.
Coral Sea sucks... sucks so bad but its a good map for skilled pilots...

No, if you get shot down, you should die and respawn on your own carrier. There is no point to adding things like floatplanes because no one will use them for their realistic purpose. What will happen is it will be used as a transport to drop pilots over the enemy boats and cause silly havoc there. The only kit for Coral Sea should be a seaman kit, or a wrench-only kit.
Vanilla Coral Sea was madness with waves of airborne infantry boarding the ship like SMG toting pirates -- in fact we used to refer to them as "boarders". I'm for removing chutes on this map.
Yeah right. Because of this, I reckon there should be NO PARACHUTES! Bloody pilots, how many times do you have to kill them? They fly around immune to practically all fire except 1 or 2 other pilots, bombing and straffing their way up the score sheet, and if somehow you can nail them, they jump out steel your tank cap a flag behind you and win the war etc. They don't deserve a medal they should be kicked. Oh, coral sea? sitting on the aa hammering the incoming, doing repairs, someone shoots me in the back of the head???? WTF!!!! Another stupid FH moment.
GrapeThough this is a reply to hydra, I'm really asking if anyone would know, could the base tickets, as coded into the map itself, be edited on the server side? So, rather than chaging the ticket ratio to make a map like BoB better served, while effecting the rest of the maps in a rotation, the map itself could be modified to have a few more tickets to start with on the allied side. I say only on the server side so that clients connecting wouldn't need any custom map download. I've seen similar server side modifications done on quite a few maps, though these are normally vehicle choices and the like, I haven't noticed if ticket counts have seemed out of sorts.
It is fully possible to modify maps server-side, without having the client to download the modified versions. The "pacific-fix" that was introduced by the servers was a moddification of map server-side to exclude the mortar class. I know DeadMeat's DC server is almost completely modded (Paratrooper spawns with shotguns on Berlin, suicide-car-bombs on Bocage, Humvee's with miniguns on LostVillage), yet the players connect with the regular DCFinal version. It's fully possible, but that will mean even bigger problems. Each server will have it's own amount of tickets, making games completely unpredictable. I am strongly against server-side moddification of the maps. Each server should be playing the same map, not their own versions
