Can blown out tanks, cars and Trucks remain a while longer after they are destroyed. I get the implications especially since my PC barely meets BF2's engine for 32 players (bots really) at medium video specs. But I once hit a tank with a mordern AT launcher and ducked for cover before it fired back, popped out to see my handy work and saw only th last metal shards flying away... Talk about Anti-Ta... nah, Anti-climax. Also, maybe instead of blowing up again, they could simply dissapear like they did in FH1. I don't knoew whether that's better until it's actually simulated (in mind or in game), but maybe I'm just more used to that...How about they fade out and dissapear.. like the corpses... That'd be easier on a soldier's mind I think...

The tanks last forever in the latest edition of PR. I'd say around 5 minutes since I have never sat there with my watch until it disappears. But it's quite possible.

But that could be a strategy couldn't it? Blowing an enemy tank in a strategic location so that you can buy your infatry soldiers time to take on the enemy's infantry and force their tanks else where for a while... Then, also I can't count the amout of times in FH1 I used a destroyed tank (or jeep I just got out of before it was smoked by an enemy tank) as cover ... without fearing that the damn thing would blow up again. My main fear is the havok it could wreak on RAM

Yep it would cause lag if they stayed too long.....

Now it would be cool if the wrecks also were PlayerControlObjects with hitpoints and so, so if someone would like to get pass, he must blow the wreck to pieces, using satchels or so... it would require a new object I guess but in theory that would work...

Unfortunately, its to such brilliant and novel ideas that the devs would never listen...Just too ambitious, they wont say - But that's what they would mean. Then again... Blowing a pile of metal might be a bit of overdoing it. Also, this would mean until that scrap goes, you can't have a new tank spawn up (Only so many vehicles per level)... If blown out vehicles act like corpses, it wouldn't be too different, but it would have some slight strategic importance and it would easier on the eye

Well that is what this forum is for, for ambitious and briliant new ideas and suggestions. Not obvious suggestions such as "Please give the German soldier marching boots in early campaigns!!" sort of thing (read; obvious things).

The suggestion to let tanks stay has been around for some time but as has been posted: The more objects the more leg. Especially vehicles lag. So getting wrecks to stay for ever is not very wise, but how long they can stay is something that has to be estimated and tested. The longer the better, but too long and the game would lag (the longer a wreck stays the more other wrecks can gather around it and thus lag more).

Or maybe they dont see much of a point in this idea. ;)

Well, it has little to do with "strategic importance" as strategic is long term (a campaign, for example). A more appriopate word would be "tactical importance".

It might be a good to limit AT weapons aswell on one way or another, if you are going to limit tanks on basis of tank "corpses", for balance purposes. Or compensate for having to wait, especially if i have to wait 5+ minutes, on one way or another.

I cant say i like the idea because it seems rather pointless to me but it might be a good to limit AT weapons aswell on one way or another if you are going to limit tanks on basis of tank "corpses" for balance purposes. Or compensate for having to wait. Especially if i have to wait 5+ minutes.

I like these ideas: - destroyed vehicles staying longer (as to the point it doesn't lag) - destroyed vehicles don't blow a 2nd time by themselves, they only disappear like in FH1 - destroyed vehicle wreckages can be destroyed by blowing them up with satchels or any other kind of explosive. In this case they would blow up (like they do in BF2 by themselves).
