i propose on some maps, maybe have destructable ammo supplies. like an ammo dump. that can be destroyed. unique to each side, and supplying that side with their ammo type only. so if it is destroyed, the enemy has no ammo for a period of time. could make it deployable by the commander, like supplys are in BF2 . and then its location is "unknown" to the enemy, aswell. doesnt have to be all ammo, but could be only certain ammo aswell. or any variation there of. like, take out the ammo, and the howy runs dry for 3 minutes. or no tank ammo, whatever. anyway just an idea, ive always wanted to bomb an ammo dump thats all :D
I think it's a nice idea....adds another tactical element. I can imagine it would be especially cool to have a destructible ammo dump by an artillery position, rendering the artillery useless when destroying it.
Another thing: I'd really like to see guard towers all destructible, it's really annoying cause the machine guns are almost impossible to destroy, it would be cool if the whole tower was a stationary weapon. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
Good idea, also it would be nice if you could bring an ammo crate from such dump.
There should be ammo crates in pick-up kit form, too. When you picked it up, you had nothing but that crate, which you could then carry to where it was needed and deploy it there.
Would be interesting.
But then you would have no weapon after dropping it because you would dissapear. If there would be possibility to dinamically in game add object to a kit...

To see a man carrying a crate on a battlefield?

You're right, actually:o.
It goes with that whole "deployment phase" idea, I guess. Sure, in the middle of a battle, you wouldn't have guns moving, crates being carried around, etc., but if there was some sort of deployment phase in which players got to position defenses where they wanted them, it'd fit more in.
I can imagine german soldiers bringing ammoboxes for their mates who are busy with the MG42's in Omaha Beach bunkers. Would be great. I like the idea. :)
I like the idea because it would make the game more strategic. I'm not sure how easy it is to code but the effects could be shown in a lot of different ways. For example: no ammo for certain weapons (like you said), or less ammo for everybody (i.e. people spawn with 1/2 as many magazines as usual), or the loss of the commander's drop crate ability.
What also might be interesting is to have a destroyable ammo dump be a control point. In that case the enemy could still try and destroy it or they could try to take it over without destroying which could have the two-pronged effect of taking ammo supplies away from the enemy while increasing their own supply. Increased supply could be done by giving them more magazines and grenades or by giving the commander a greater amount of deployable crates.
McGibs promised this LONG ago people...
