how about having them in night maps...
Are flashlights/searchlights etc even posible in bf2?
The BF2 engine supports dynamic lightning, so flashlights and searchlights may/must be possible to implement. Hopefully these effects (especially the big, long beams of light from searchlights) won't cause performance issues.

You can light up objects by firing your rifle near it, so i asume that if properly modded, you can create a flashlight using the same effect.
That would be the coolest thing in the world to shine a searchlight up in a bombing the reich type map and to light up the underside of a b-17...heaven
i like the sound of this thread
Yes I believe its possible, if you look at some screenshots of the battleracer mod for BF2 they have headlights- http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=images/news/br1.jpg http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=images/news/br2.jpg http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img=images/news/br3.jpg
sp in theory you could adapt that into searchlights, making maps like bombing the Reich SO much more immersive:nodding:
Flashlights or lanterns for infantry, headlights and those red back lights for vehicles, search lights for ships, leigh-lights for planes, search lights on land, search lights attached to AA, flares... The list goes on.
Neat or what: Taken from this thread.
I heard that dynamic dynamic lighting (or moving light sources) produce too much lag, though:(. Of course, I could be wrong.
I take what n0e says way too seriously

im sure the FH devs will find a way to make it work without too much lag. they are a smart bunch and if they cant do it, nobody can.
Well.. I stil have my secret dream... Naval battles at midnights seeing only the lights of the ships on long range. Than when the ships come near you fire your searchlights and makes the targets visible firing all the guns! rawrrr!! *drools*
