Just to give props where props are due, Dr. Guppy is a killing machine. If you meet him on the batllefield as infantry, chances are you are going down. IMHO, he is not just a whiner but bringing what he feels is a valid point.

I think a more valid attack on tanks from the air would be to the side or rear as opposed to the front, where the cannon generally rests.

However, I have no regret over the way tanks can bring down planes. It is no different in the game of getting dinged at rifle range by a SMG or getting blown up by a satchel. I mean, if you want reality, how many soldiers in a face to face with an enemy got blown up in this manner?

Frankly, I think AA is extremely lacking (sounds better than sucks doesn't it) in .65. I never can hit anything in say Bocage but once in a great while. I don't ever recall machine gunning a plane down. But, maybe I suck too...

Also, I don't feel sorry for pilots in general. As mentioned about El Al and Gazala, they rule without prejudice.

You serious about the AA? I found it pretty devestating both as a pilot and as a AA gunner.

Yes but don't go just by my experience. It would be nice to know what others think because I'm willing to accept that it is just me. :)

Aircraft are forced fly unrealistically slow and low due to engine scaling and tanks have highter then normal turret roation speeds. Its totally different from those because those are a realstic dynmaic. Having tanks taking out aircraft left and right is a joke. Its true a good pilot can work around this somewhat, but it doesn't mean its somehow not an issue. Tanks rarerly carried AA shells and the other shells types are not necciesarly going to be 1- hit kills as descrived elsewhere. Its compounded by map design issues, and this should not be confused with 'cannons' (this not a naval issue for example), and the problem doesn't mean tanks shoudl be totally nerfed to aircraft, but there's no sidestepping that an issue does exist. In addition, on the subject of it being a map design issue- the flight code issue of .61 could have been partially solved by making huge maps. It wasn't treated as a map issue however, the flight code was overhauled to fit the scale better. Bombs damag radius are scaled, damage distances are scaled- everything but tanks damage to aircarft- and, as result a un-natural vunerabluty exits. Sure tanks need defense from airplanes- but its should come in a realistic form such as AA units.
