On the BF42 (vanilla) Wake Island I noticed one thing different from FH's Wake. The unrealistically white sand and strange brightness of the sun made me really feel like I was sweating my hair off while running around. I hope this can be on every desert map, like if you even look into the sky without "sunglasses" (HINT HINT DEVS) you get blinded almost like a flashbang does to you in BF2 Vanilla. The other thing is this scientific fact. The "shimmering" effect you see on the roads and desert is caused by hot air being trapped beneath the colder air, and lets you "see" over the horizon because it creates a sort of lens or mirror. It might create strange shapes on the ground. I hope that we can have this in FH2, since I would love to have the coolness of seeing "tanks" in the "water" on the ground and shooting at them in vain, only to discover a Marder III is right behind me loading its gun...Would love it. It would add so much to the atmosphere.

If you stare directly at the sun yeah, it'll mess you up. But being flashbanged everytime I happen to glance by it looking skyward would be a tad much.

And for some reason I have the sneaking suspision that the BF2 engine isn't exactly know for their mirage effects. Would be interesting though...

Ya the wavy effect from heat would be a really cool idea, It would give you that feeling of really being in the desert. The thing about staring into the sun though would not be a good idea, It alredy dose somthing like this in the BF2. when you stare at the sun your screen becomes varry bright and you really cant make anything out. The sun flashbang idea though is too much.

You mean heat haze. If it was possible it would be good.

Heat haze, if possible, would rock as much as any other "weather" or environmental conditions. Go devs go :-)

Yeah, mirages work just like fiber optic cables work, via total internal reflection. The light bounces around inside the small hotter layer of air close to the ground.

What it seems like YOU want for staring at the sun is called *drumroll* "HIGH RANGE DYNAMIC LIGHTING" ... *cough* BF3 *cough*

Looking at the sun causing a flashbang like effect , I really hope this doesnt happen lol for obvious reasons , like looking up at a plane or getting shot and waiting to be res'd (will the whole res thing be in FH2?) It seems alot of the suggestions made by people seem to want to change FH completely , reading it sometime worries me when someone suggests something nuts that falls to other online public players to do , like tank crews for example lol am I the only one that loves FH the way it is , I dont want it changed in these crazy ways!!! anyho alot of the suggestions own like the dust from the tanks!

I dont know about this. I do and dont like this. In real life you can just put your hand in front of the sun to block it from hitting your eyes. But It would be fairly interesting. Ill let my opinion float around. Not that anyone cares ;P

Heat haze would be a nice effect, but I doubt the BF2 engine would be capable of such things. If it could be pulled off, it would definately add to the atmosphere of the desert maps.
