I would like to see a very simple desert tank battle map. Very few statics except a few dug in positions for the germans, a few rocks, and some scraggly grass set among a few rolling hills and huge flat plains. afterbreakthrough.jpg This should allow for some amazing view distance for good long range tank battles. Put a medium bomber and a fighter on each side. For the German dug in positions take the time to set them up well so they are quite leathal, well protected, and worth manning. gunpit2.jpg I would give the British either a very long and wide artillery bombard (from the commander) or several big linked artillery batteries (depending on how artillery is done in FH2). It might do well as a supply lines game mode map. Anyway big wide open tank battle with huge view distance!

Here here. Though apparently they tried this with Kursk and it didn't work very well. I don't know, perhaps things will be different on the different engine.

The EA Kursk map modified? It wasn't big enough, was it? To make this work long distances are imperative.

YEAH! My grandfather was at Alemain! This would be a great map, bring on North African campaign. Sidi Barani (Italians - Graziani). Fort Caporetto (Italians - Graziani). Fall of Barca (Italians - Badoglio). Fall of Tobruk (Italians - Badoglio). Fall of Msus (Italians - Granziani). Battle of Benghazi (Rommel). Battle of Gazala (Rommel). Siege of Tobruk (Rommel). Battle of El Alemain (Rommel). Battle of Tripoli (Rommel). Battle of Kasserine (Rommel).

No, the devs at one point had created a whole new Kursk map set on a flat plain with a few trees and tons of tanks + air support.

I dont want to see planes on this map, for once i would like to be able to focuss on fighting other tanks instead of being nuked by planes all day long. On a map as flat as this, the "pilots" will have a field day.

There could be a few destroyed tanks for some cover. A map like that would be hell for wondering infantry, hehe.

Yeah, but fun. I'd like to see something like this, it'd be nice. But I so do like the arcade El Al...

You'd have to remove the magic-wrench then, otherwise any tank that doesn't die in 1 shot (heavier tanks) will never die. At the proposed extreme distances, it will be very easy for the engineer to hide behind a tank and not get killed. And at this distance, there is no gurrantee that you will score one hit after another. And by the time if hit again, the magic-wrench will bring the tank to full health. You'd also have to disable the way BF2 vehicles with engineers repair each other, otherwise people will just sit next to each other and never die.

On a map as flat as this, the "pilots" will have a field day.[/QUOTE] But with those long view distances pilots will have more to fear from AAA and mobile AA. But that is also why I suggested medium bombers (with no Jabo's or dive bombers it would help stop the plane rape) and two fighters are there to neutralize the bombers and strafe AT gun positions. Fighters crashing into tanks should have the same effect as birds crashing into my window. As far as infantry goes they should be using towed and pushable AT guns. Clearing/laying mines. Riding tanks into battle and dismounting to take flags. Maning dug in positions. But most of all defending flags. No wrenches. Tanks should fight till they die.
