As the title says. Is it possible to have some sort of expacks in the game but instead of wireless detonator have a wire coming out of the charges to detonator?

Something like this: You throw the charge (or even better: plant it) and it will generate a "rope" that extends further you go. It would behave a bit like the crappling hook ropes so it couldn't go through walls, would be pulled down by gravity, etc. You couldn't go too far or the rope would get cut (the charge would be useless and disappear). I suggest this because I like the idea of expacks and even more I like the idea of being able to follow the wire to someone who has set them up :P .

As for the tripwire the term I use is a bit wrong (I don't know if term "trapwire" exists :) ). Point is to be able to deploy a short rope from A to B which then when cutted by for example running through it would set off a small explosive (for example a grenade) in point A. That would be good for making traps to bunkers, etc.

I have no clue if they are possible at all but suggesting shouldn't harm anyone :D .

ahhh i dunno. there are alot of explosives in the game. meybe only if u only get 1 Ex pack and increase its power and explosion distance then yes. Also someone could track u from the wire. :P

An interactive wire probably would be too complicated but I would be all for a limit radius for hand detonated explosives so you can't throw a set of explosives, run around town like a headless chicken and press the detonation button. I agree though that actual wires would be even better to prevent the silly "throw explovies, run in a building and run through all rooms and up to stairs then detonate the explosives" while the wires should became disconneted in real life in such a situation. Would keep smacktard and arcady use to a limited.

BF2 has the... forgot the little inf mines the snipers had... but anyway, when you got inside the mines blast radius, it'll explode. So, if you adjust the area where the explosion will trigger , then you can have tripwire things atleast... :)

those mines are called Claymores. they are directional anti-personel mines that can be detonated with either a trigger mechanism or tripwire.

Well in WW2 trips were simple 2 nades with catgut on the half drawn pins, Call of Duty mods have them so it can't be that hard to do in the BF2 engine.

I figure it would be a case of when laying a trip, two nades are used, they could use the claymore model for the trip nade, and scope down the kill axis to a thin line between both nades.

Donutz is talking about an actual fluid wire. Like an actual wire that follows the player. Not a booby trap with an arbitrary wire static.

Yeah main idea I had was only to have one big charge with strong power but small radius so you could destroy bridges with it but not use it as insta kill nuke.

One idea would also be that you would have to first deploy the charge and then deploy the detonator too before you could use it. Don't know how realistic that would be though as I don't know how big detonators they used in WW2.

Well, there were those basic big plunger thingies, and there were smaller ones that couold be held in one hand (but operated with two). Which were more common, and on which sides?
