Ok, I have been reading some of the threads posted recently and Convoys have been a pretty hot topic recently so I just got this idea that pops into my head about a way to do it.
The way I would set a gamemode like this up would be a long road going from one side of the map to the other. Along the road would be checkpoints (Could be invisible, identified on the map, or physical objects) One of the convoy trucks would have to pass through these checkpoints in order to advance to the next one. However, since it would be insanely difficult to get the same truck all the way down the road due to campers and mines the checkpoints would be like save points. Once the Convoy truck enters the checkpoint radius the convoy spawns would move up a bit on the road as well. Not necessarily TO the checkpoint but up the road a considerable amount. The intercepting team spawns would also move up the road to a location where they can still effectively head off the convoy. That way to battle would continually move up the road but the convoy team can't just blow through the interceptor team because they get lucky after one checkpoint. At the end of the road could be a city, or a port and would be the intercepting teams last hope of winning the round. Then again it could just be the edge of the map with a sign that says "this way to xxxxx town/city/port." The map could also have side objective to spice things up a bit and criple the other team, or give your team an advantage. Like a airstrip off to the side for 1 team to get air support and tip things in their favor. Or a neutral base where artillery could be set up.
Oh yea here is a graphical representation.
Black Squares = Convoy
Colored Circles = Check point/intercepting teams associated spawn location.
Anyways what do you all think?
Oh yea, my second idea much simpler.
When you guys get around to the Pacific Theatre could you make the runways on the carries destroyable? Also the command tower and stuff? Destroying the runway would disable the carriers fighter/bomber compliment, and destroying the command tower could do something liek disable radar, disable its movement/ or tie it to the commander in some way.
Anyways... I have to go to bed... sooo late... soooo tired! :cya:
Its a good idea, and it sounds a bit like like a level in a single player WW2 game, but I still think it sounds great. :)
Very nice idea I like it. :)
It is a good idea and even possible with the pushmap system (right?) :) I like it too.

it's a cooler version of a push map, i am still a bit confuzzled but it sounds cool or even better, how about, capture the Truck?, a random truck is in the middle of the map, whoever gets the truck back to their base first wins

That is like CTF idea suggested by Queen Naga.:uhm: That is interesting idea, but I think this is more doable.

is very nice
using sniper to kill drivers and infantery :P
It would also be great if driving on concrete would be faster than driving on dirt, so the convoy would stick to the road.

I'm pretty sure that's already in FH2, because in normal Bf2, the vehicle you were driving would go at different speeds depending on what you were driving on. Like driving on the dirt roads would be pretty quick, but driving through a muddy patch or swampy area would slow it down considerably.
I try not to suggest things that haven't already been done in the engine. ;)
Glad you guys liked it. This is a sort of scenario a very experienced community mapper could make, if he got some help and really put his mind to it. But it would awesome if there was an official game mode. I don't know where its place is in history though, like some sort of famous convoy ambush, lol.
Edit: Teuvo, it seems I have seen your avatar/name somewhere else before? Gmod forums or First Strike?
