lol Sydney Harbour, i can picture that, the japs have to enter with their midget subs and sink the Ferry. Hmmm homing torps on a swordfish, what happens if theres no target around will they chase you?

I forgot something in my little article: Search lights. Most surface ships in World War II (and now) had search lights, which had a psychological effect as well as the obvious aid in searching for subs and other targets. I think most surface ships in Forgotten Hope 2 should have them (and flares).

Night-time maps in FH 2 will be so awesome if flares and the likes are put in.

He dropped his homing torp and a few minutes later there was a boom and sub parts floated to the surface. Cool huh?

Not for the sub:eek:.

(;))

At the time that homing torps were in use, who would fly a swordfish?

Er:o... OK, you got me.

Yes. They'll follow you to your carrier and sink it when you land:p. Or maybe they'll just go straight forward while listening for contacts.

One thing i'd love to see is a huge naval and airiel battle around Malta (Operation pedestal??). Just think, Stukas, destroyers, aircraft carriers, battleships! It'd be insane!

What I want to see is a naval battle map that's objective-based. Galactic Conquest had a great one (in space) called Task Force Battle. You were to blow up the enemy ships with your own (and your fighters), and every ship but the starfighters were objectives and thus important. No offense to be developers, but I think it was a bad idea to make Rheinub├╝ng a conquest map.

Safe KeeperI forgot something in my little article: Search lights. Most surface ships in World War II (and now) had search lights, which had a psychological effect as well as the obvious aid in searching for subs and other targets.

That, frankly, would ROCK. Get rid of the useless rockets on the PoW (or the Hood? I forget) and replace with spotlights. Put a spotlight position on the Fletcher and the Hatsuzuki. I'd love to see a Mediterranean night naval battle (British-Italian) or any of the night fights in the Guadalcanal slot. It would put a whole new dimension into naval battles.

Regarding objective maps, I like how the new Midway handles it. Rheinubung in the style of Midway would be great (although it would have to be re-thought a bit--currently, the ships die way too quickly for a one-shot objective map to be fun.)

The great thing about GC Task Force Battle was that there were (a) enough heavy ships to make it take time, (b) constant small battles among fighters/bombers going on (similar to the fighters in Midway), (c) 3 dimensions (you could jump an enemy corvette from the top), (d) obstacles -- asteroids you could hide behind and (e) fixed- or limited-traverse weapons on a lot of the ships, so you really had to have a captain who knew how to maneuver for an advantageous position.

IMHO FH naval combat could stand a few major overhauls--I can't shake the feeling that all the ship action was done as an afterthought by people focused more on tank and infantry maps. Basically, naval battles are like tank fights but without terrain to hide behind. If FH could incorporate complications along the lines of what I listed as positive aspects of GC above, naval battles would really be spiced up.
