This suggestion is related to adding more eye-candy to FH. As you all probably noticed in BF1942 the only things that get decals are houses/buildings, static objects etc and these decals are bullet decals only (holes caused by machinegun bullets) and they last very little time (it's good it's like that or it would probably lag). Now, what I've been thinking is if it is possible to make bullet (and shell/explosion if possible) decals on soldiers and vehicles also. For the simple part (I suppose) the bullet decals on soldiers would just be like the bullet holes in buildings but they would be blood red and in vehicles it would simple be like it is already in the buildings/objects (maybe just add a metalic look). I'm not sure if the tanks would all get marked with any kind of bullet or if only the strongest ones (like from AAs etc) would perforate and leave a mark. For the complext part and maybe not possible would be to add shell/explosion decals from grenades and shells. They would be bigger than the ones caused by the bullets of course and last very little time.
If it's not possible to add decals to vehicles/soldiers I say add decals to shell hits on buildings and static objects. So if a tank shoots a shell onto the wall of a building it would leave a smudged mark of the explosion. This is only a suggestion, I'm not demanding anything mind you. ;)

Sadism? You can say that... but it's already sadism when you blow a tank, kill a soldier or shoot down enemy airplanes in BF1942 already! :lol: You end up feeling pleasure to frag your foes on-line. But no, it was just to make things more realistic like in most all the games that have been released lately. I didn't actually want to mean blood decals (i.e blood marked on floor etc). I just meant small red holes nothing more. Only meant decals for smudged surfaces of shell explosions. For the heart-softened like you then I would recommend adding just the explosion marks on buildings and bullet marks on tanks.... and there is already blood in the game by the way if you haven't noticed and fell of your chair already. That's one thing I wouldn't never like. Enough is enough.

The screenshots show no resemblence to real in-game play, and most of the action happens with bullet marks in bodies etc. Even when a grenade goes off right at someone's feet, the shrapnel is shown on their bodies. It's more of a realism mod now, with a medic class and distributable ammo. Also new guns/maps etc. It's a pretty neat little mod. Though I don't play CoD that much anymore.

Yeah that is true and pretty neat and all but isn't the ability to blow off heads a bit wee-off? :Puzzled: I doubt that would happen in Real War? :confused: That's why I'm saying it's a bit stupid and crazy.. But I don't mind playing servers that run it... heads blow off rarely anyway :p Back to the thread... Is it possible to code bullet marks in bodies/vehicles and shell explosion marks on buildings/vehicles or not?
The decals wouldent stick on the tank, ive seen a mod that tried to do that, but when you move the vehicle, the decals will just float in the air, and disapeer. :(
We have both a Lupin and a Jigen running around this forum... hehe.... Is BF2 going to support ragdoll physics at all? Blowing a guy up with a grenade and watching him smash against a wall is probably great fun. Hopefully BF2 will have alot of this stuff, so we aren't stuck with the likes of BF1942's crappy engine.
Yes, bf2 will have ragdoll physics, im still not gonna get it till fh makes a release on it. :D (whole reason i got bfv was cause i thought fh was going to it, boy was i wrong :Profiler:)

Oh so the whole idea of bullet marks on soldiers wouldn't work neither. I actually was expecting something like that... the decals floating in the air. But the smudged surface on buildings or the floor (that are of course static) made by a tank shell would work wouldn't they? Would be cool if it was possible with a grenade but a grenade doesn't shoot nothing so wouldn't probably work. They could use the code of the bullet decals on walls made by handguns for implementing shell hit/explosion decals on walls also couldn't they?
Yes, the whole decals on statics would work i think. But i think it also might be hardcoded, so you cant assign new bullet decals to diffrent projectiles (tank shells) But thats just what im thinking, i havent touched a con file in a year or two, so im kinda rusty.
