I know this has been talked about before but I can't find it using search... Anyway, I think it would be cool to have several extra positions on tanks for infantry to sit on. Like, there would be the Gunner/Driver position, hull gunner, Anti Aircraft gunner, and about 4-6 outside positions for infantry to sit on. This would work really well in BF2 since you can use your weapons while in a vehicle. Infantry rode on tanks ALL THE TIME in WWII (though rarely fought on them), and i doubt it would be hard to implement.

What are you talking about Blackcat? He means on top of all the regular positions (driver, front MG gunner, and commader) there are also spots for the infantry to hitch a ride on the back. Two positions (like we have now) is enough for me IMO. We don't want to have everybody ignoring the APC's and cars by riding on tanks.

yes, all medium (2 positions) and heavy (4 positions) tanks in FH2 will be able to carry infantry on them.

people will still use APCs because they provide more holding space and armor protection. people will still use jeeps and trucks because they are fast. and they will use universal carriers because they are so cool.

In a sense, you can fit more people onto the tank, just let them jump up and get on. Or with a medic truck, you can let people hop into the back, as long as you don't roll the vehicle or flip it, they should only slide around in the back of it. If that vehicle happens to be blown up, the people riding like that will wish they had wings or a parachute.

I thought T-34, StuG-III and M-10 already allowed this (with the added bonus that the passengers on the StuG can target for artillery)? Plus, in the M-36 you can jam a whole bunch of people in the open turret and drop a grenade, and that makes a big puddle of strawberry jam, and doesn't even hurt the tank! Bonus! :-)

I seem to recall someone talking about how tanks in FH2 would be "bigger", in order to prevent infantry from jumping on top and nailing KTs with a bazooka to the turret roof (as if they're not powerful enough already.) There was another discussion a little while ago about adding a "one-way" collision mesh to the backs of tanks, so people could climb on and stand, then stay on the backs of tanks without falling off, and would have to jump over the invisible railing in order to get off--this all so they could still use their weapons on top of the tank.

But I guess as BF2 doesn't allow you to sit on a tank without being killed, and you can use weapons while actually "seated" in one of the positions, it's kinda moot, isn't it?

Heh. The STuG tank commander isn't just a passenger. It's the tank commander that calls for artillery in that vehicle. But everything else you said is exactly right, except it can be done in a mod (and has in the base game via patch 1.03) make it so collisions with vehicles (ie. riding on them) are faaar less likely to run you over than it used to be. And yes it is rather moot when you can have people sit in tank seat passenger positoins and still fire. Although under fire I'd get the heck off the tank and fird cover.
