I didn't make it!
Hi Guys, Firstly let me say this is a fantastic mod, just wish more Aussie's played it:( I have a suggestion, possibly even a question. The Falaise map, its fantastic but its missing the vital component for that particular battle. The aircraft:nodding: this battle was desicively won by the complete destruction of ground forces by aircraft, in particular rocket firing Typhoons. I personnely think that this map would be enhanced tremendously by the addition of ground attack aircraft, thats if your looking for the real historic experiance of Falaise that is..;) the following paragraphs detail in a small way the importance of air cover in this engagemnet. regards Rob. source as per link. http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avcfury.html#m3
The high point of the Typhoon's career was the Battle of the Falaise Pocket in the third week of August 1944. Wehrmacht divisions, forced by Hitler's obstinate insistence that they stand their ground when they should have withdrawn, were almost completely encircled in the area of the French town of Falaise by the Allied armies. The Germans in the pocket were then crushed by artillery and air strikes. RP-firing Typhoons, or "Rockoons", were significant contributors to the butchery, hitting everything that moved, with Tiffy pilots walking up to a target with cannon fire and then loosing a devastating salvo of RPs. Allied scouts who moved into the area after the shooting died down described it as a "slaughterhouse", with German survivors in numb shock. The Allied victory ended serious German resistance in France.
dude, broken hill, thats out in the middle of nowhere
*im in brissy ;)*
i think it would ruin the map, but i would like a map based around Caen with tactical bombing by B17G's
That map is way to small for ground attack aircraft, but yes, it would be realistic.
Maybe, just maybe, someone will do a Pegasus Bridge map for the Fan Map Pack, if not, someone will die.
The map needs some work IMO. The dynamic is completely spread out. There's rarely a front line or point of combat, its all people sneaking off to undefended flags and keeping the map going for ages. I think it needs a Push-style dynamic and less tanks, more transport.
Its in limbo between an infantry and a tank map. Looks great, but its rarely fun for me. Its just a constant "run-to-back-flag, MG spawning inf, run to next flag" thing that never goes anywhere.
yeh man im in brissie as well strathpine
Hope they fix the damn ground detail texture on that map.. it looks horrible.. oh, and the Pegasus bridge map is under construction, Master Minder is working on it.. last time I looked it looked absolutely fantastic.
The map needs to have at least two flags taken out and the rest placed differently so as to not spread the fight to all flags at the same time. It's pretty obvious when you look at it from a strategic perspective, and the way it plays out only confirms it - but of course, noticing that in the development stage would have required testing!, which is obviously the worst thing to do when making a map. :uhoh:
I agree that Falaise Pocket has to many flags.
Also I don´t like the heavy focus on Normandie tank battles that to such an extent never took place.
The main Allied AT weapon should still be the Airforce...

Thank God. Any pics of it for us?
Dee-Jay: The map is way too small for the use of aircraft. Besides, the only tank the Germans get is one Panther.
The map would be cool if only the center flag caused bleed (King of the Hill style). That would make for concentrated battles, and the other flags are merely for support and spawning.
