Consider a Fallschinger class/pickup kit with only 2-3 weapons: 1. Knife 2. Pistol? 3. Deployable kit And this kit has a parachute... for parachuting. Now this soldier would get in a Ju52 and paradrop over enemy soil. Then he would deploy his #3 weapon and exchange kits with what he has on, giving him his rifle + other goodies. Features: 1. The soldier would be unable to swap to his goodie kit before jumping as the goody kit has no parachute. 2. Paratroopers would have to land in a semi safe area in order to swap kits in the 3 seconds of peace the process requires. Then attack, roast marshmallows, ect. ================================================== END FIRST SUGGESTION - BEGIN SECOND SUGGESTION ================================================== The Ju52 deploys ammo crates on parachutes. I suggest this be changed to a fallschimger goodie box with health, ammo, and 1-2 player slots. When in a player slot you can fire 1 or 2 of the heavy-goodie kits out. Like their tiny anti tank gun, shreck, flamethrower, ect. Mainly the good heavy weapons. Features: 1. Cannot jump with heavy weapons in hand, as they have no chute 2. Requires more time to get heavy weapons instead of normal kit = balance. Note: Currently the Ju52 deploys 8 crates. If these had extra value I suggest the number be toned down to 3-4.
I prefer #1 over #2, because #1 is both based on realism, and is implementable both on pubs and clan-servers. #2 is too dependant on other players not being morons. which they are regardless.
Those are both really good ideas! I was thinking of something along the same lines which I could use in my Cretan Village map. The simplest of my ideas was that the Fallschirmjägers all started with the same kit: - parachute - knife - pistol - 2x grenades? Then drop container statics could be placed on the ground around where the paras land with full kits around it. The problem with this is that it could only really be used on maps where there is a fixed drop-zone and not people actually jumping out of the plane.
