I've been thinking about how to incorporate the kit upgrades or alternate weapons that you can get with rank and came up with a few ideas. 1. Kill based allowance: After a certain amount of kills with a certain class or weapon, the upgrade becomes available. Such as with AT class, after you have used the PFaust 30 enough, you get the PFaust 100 (or multiple options, such as getting a second PFaust30 to carry instead of upgrading to 100) and after that you get the Shreck. The only problem I see is working this into the timelines of different rotating maps. This can also be expanded into upgrade lines, of starting with AT rifle, and choosing either progressively effective AT nades or SC weapons. 2. Rank based: This is that the higher you rank, jsut like BF2, you unlock more usable weapons. If your a sargeant, you get say a G43 unlockable. The problems here are obvious in that the timeline becomes a problem and the fact that high ranked exploit players or such jsut open up the gap when they unlock superior weapons. I remember thinking of a third but at the moment it escapes me so I;ll post that one as soon as I can remember. Also i can explain these in more detail but I tried to lay down the basics for the sake that I'm supposed to be writing a paper right now.
[COLOR=black]As a possible solution to the timeline issues, what about having the item in the slot defined by the map? I guess this would require a good bit of coding, but so would configuring the rank unlocked slot to be different for each team. [/COLOR]
I'm pretty sure it's been said somewhere that the whole rank system thing won't be incorporated into FH2...
The unlocked weapons, as of yet, have to be the same for each team. You wouldn't want the Brits using an Stg44, would you?

I really really really hope it's not incorporated in FH2 in any way, shape or form. Feh. Point whoring is bad enough. Point whoring for rank takes the rancid cake.
And lo he spoke onto them thusly.. The ranking system cannot and will not be used for the unlocking of kits and thus it was so. And lo in a great booming voice like the voice of a Dev'y he did say that the "unlockable" part of the class selection would be another option for kit types. Such as a Anti-Tank with Panzerfaust and Rifle, or Pistol and Shreck. Or Assault with Mp40 smoke and gernades or STG with gernades. Or Lo the scout sniper with either a Carbine or a rifle. And thusly were the examples made.
