I dont know what you devs are planning, or what you are working on, but i was wondering about something.. In BF2 you can fire bullets trough sertain materials, now.. in FH when you fire at something, a jeep or truck, and hit the side panel, the vehicle takes damage.. do this enough and it blows up. Could you model and design vehicles in such a way that they do not take damage from bullets unless you hit a sertain spot on said vehicle thats "critical" to its operation. For example, you can put as many .50 cal bullets into a b17 as you want, but as long as all you hit is hull, itll be just fine. This would also mean that if you were to empty your MG into the cockpit of an attacking JU88 that you would kill the pilot, even tho the plane is just fine.. untill it crashes. This could go for jeeps and trucks well. Wood and thin sheet metal doesnt stop bullets and lets them trough, but isnt critical to the vehicles operation so its HP stays at 100%. Another example would be AT rifles, you could kill the crew, and leave the tank virtually intact.. to prevent some unrealistic side effects, you could (maybe) code a delay of lets say.. 5 minutes before anyone else can enter the tank to simulate having to remove the bodies and blood from the inside. How aboot it, eh?

wow, thats actually some good stuff. The idea with the penetration is not new though, but the one with leaving the tank for 5 min is!

You can shoot people out of cockpits even in BF42 (and could do that since the demo). It's upto the devs if they want to have it or not. I remember that they decided not to have it due to whatever reasons. Even then, there are still instances when while flying you as a pilot take damage. Usually happens from splash damage, like the Flak88. And yes, i've been shot out of the plane in FH while the plane remained intact And noone's going to play a game where they have to wait 5 minutes before entering a vehicle. Most FH vehicles spawn in less then 5 minutes, so people will just blow it up

Cool idea, although I don't know whether having a tank commander's innards oozing out of a disabled vehicle would be so appealing... :-) I was under the impression that killing people inside vehicles was already well possible? I recall machinegunning many trucks full of guys, then nabbing the (only-slightly-damaged) vehicle. Having the same for aircrew would be pretty nifty, though. As for antitank rifles, I don't think it was all too common to knock out a tank and re-use it after a bit of work with a sponge and spatula--a chunk of lead ricocheting around inside it would damage a lot more than the crew. I would much prefer to see partial damage to tanks and vehicles, as suggested in this thread: http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=203709 That said, I would _really_ like to see a reliable way of nailing passengers/crew. Currently, you can shoot the pilot out of a plane, or similar; however, I've sat on the runway at Crete and emptied a whole Bren mag at the pilot of a Ju52 that had just landed, with no success. Likewise, wouldn't it make sense to be able to shoot sidearms into tanks? I find it a bit weird that, when I'm driving/riding a truck or jeep, I am obviously inside the vehicle, but when I'm in a tank, I _am_ the tank? I.e. there is no distinct soldier skin to shoot at, just the tank as a whole. As I recall, not all WWII tanks had all-round armor or plexiglass vision blocks. It seems realistic to be able to jump on an unescorted tank, force open the commander's hatch and drop a grenade in it, or machine-gun the crew...

You can shoot people out of cockpits in regular FH. In El Alamein once, a hurricane was bombing the east base, the bomb was falling and about to blow me into powder. So I fired my K98 at the plane in a sort of futile gesture. But somehow, by a bizarre coincidence, I hit the pilot. That was one of my sweetest shots ever!

Did that with a Colt .45 once. And as the owner of a real WWII .45, all I have to say to that is "good luck"... :-)

The penetration is a cool idea, just like in 1940 when the dutch shoot with ordinary carbines on the junkers, killing the pilots and paratroopers, because the germans used for lower expanses, they used the same material used for sheds and stuff, in the end if you saw a crashed plane because a pilot was shot you could see carbonised bodies of the paratroopers(not that it is needed in fh) but i never knew that u could shoot pilots in bf42:D

I like this idea. That way the US trucks won't have to worry so much about people firing on their canvas backs, as the bullets will just go riht through. It might hit the soldiers sitting back there, but the truck will remain happy, and that's what counts!

Good idea. And what makes it even better is that decals can now be put on vehicles, so bullet holes would show.

You kind of taken my idea, but no biggie :D. I also thought about making it so that if hit an ammo truck in the back just right, the whole thing goes up in one big fireball, and also kills anyone in the near vacinity (that's not spelled right but oh well) due to all the remaining bullets flying every which way. All vehicles should also be able to have their tires shot out, which makes them go a bit slower, and makes turning a P.I.T.A. This can be fixed by deploying a "tire fixer" kit, which is the secondary fire in the driver's seat. It makes said theoretical kit appear right behind the truck, and only contains the tire. The person picks up the kit, runs over to which ever tire is flat, and presses primary fire. We see a little animation go out, and 2-5 seconds later, boom, the new tire is on, and the guy can pick his old kit pack up, and get the heck out of there before he is shot.
