What about this: A. K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid; overly complex things r boring and a pain. B. What if there was a main spawn base and one neutral flag, but squad leaders could drop, one time per game, spawn points which could not be moved once placed. This would make it feel like your team was actually building a front line dependent on the abilities of your commanders to attempt to capture the single flag strong point. Example map: Battle of Stalingrad, German's mainbase is on the outskirts of the city, the russians is on the other side of the Volga, the nutral flag is called Red Square. Depending on how your squad leaders stragegize where they place the spawns it could drasticly change gameplay.
I suggested that spawnpoints where moved a fair distance away from flags (100/200 meters in FH now a long time ago but no-one cought onto that one. Now.. you have spawnpoints basicly ON the flag, people spawn right ontop of attackers and they either get mowed down right away, or the other group gets blown away by the spawners. Its stupid, if people spawn about 200 meters away it would actually seem like they are getting reinforcements.
Swellik I am aware of the K.I.S.S. principle. I was just brain dumping my thoughts. Raptor, your idea has been shared with me for a looooong time. It's good and I like it. I was even about to suggest a more drastic: if you selected spawn at flag #3, it would always put you at flag #2. Select flag 4, spawn in at 3. That way you'd be spawned at n-1 of the front line. Of course this has a whole slew of problems. If the enemy captures flag2 they will spawn AHEAD of their front lines instead of behind. How about the commander can place a spawn zone anywhere in "controlled territory" Controlled territory being defined by what flags you have? How about a special truck that goes slow, and can be "deployed" to form a spawn camp. Where you get one of these RTS style trucks for every flag you cap. Vulnerable if used stupidly, but otherwise hearty. Perhaps has to be "demolished" by having an enemy stand near it 10 seconds. Mobile spawn points in DCR work well if you've got an intelligent team.
