A hat off to the Devs who created the flare guns for Op Hycanith, the problems are that a) they don't seem to do anything, i haven't seen any building light up or have any area of the map suddenly illuminated by these flares and b) they have the trajectory of a grenade launcher shell, they do not hang in the air for the 15-30 seconds that they should and then just fade out while in flight, not on the ground

a - Make sure you turn up your light settings, including dynamic light, to medium or high.

b - Its know. Maybe in the future.

A - seems o be on your end, they light up everything pretty good on my computer.

B - It was said by a dev that to make them hang in the air caused major lag, so the current system was implemented. Note that commander artillery sends flares that hang in the air for a little bit.

Yes, turn up your dynamic light settings. The flares look gorgeous at lighting things up for me.

Never had a problem with flares, they're what makes Hyacinth my second-favourite map :D

b: Flare gun pistol rounds are not to be confused with illumination rounds. The flare pistol basically fires a giant tracer round.

Illumination rounds fired from mortars or artillery pieces have little parachutes on them that lets them slowly fall (we cant actually code them falling, so they just hang there). The 12 guage flare pistol rounds are too small to have parachutes.

In the Commanders menue there is a button for Vehicles, cant you take the vehicle drop out and put the parachute flare in? It should have the ability like the cardrop in bf2.

they illuminate stuff. Shoot them over enemy position to see guys hiding in the shadows.

Yeah. And a quick note for the British. Try not to use them to illuminate your approaches to the Barce square. It makes things much easier on us MG whores.
