I think flares are very cool and useful, but they only last a couple of seconds in the useful spot, which is in mid-air. I've been told the reason they come down so quickly is because it would cause lag. But the Commander-dropped flares stay there for quite some time and don't cause any lag. I've seen 2 flares staying in mid-air illuminating the area around them for about 1 min or so. There was no lag that I could recall, so can this be transposed to the flare gun? 30 extra seconds in mid-air should do it really.

It´s because they have no parachute like the commander flares, so they fall down pretty quickly.

What are flares for anyway? They don't seem to do anything.

They only render on high graphic settings.

no, you need to have lighting on high/med, or dymamic,

and they are really!! usefull whit these settings, becouse you can spot enemys much easier, and they looks so damn nice.

There's commander flares? WTH?

And, anyone here ever fired a flare gun, much less own one? The times are completely realistic; if anything, they stay lit for TOO long, but they stay in the air the correct amount of time~similar to my flare pistol.

Yeah commander artillery in Operation Hiyacinth is actually flares I think. We really need an info on map saying what type of arty is at the diposal of the commander. Sometimes it's field artillery, sometimes mortar team, sometimes smoke barrage. Well maybe make the flares go higher then I guess. But when they fall the angle at which they illuminate is not always useful, that's why I think they should stay on air more time by making them go higher.

flares are usefull to either find the enemy or blind him nothing works better to take out an MG position adn stop him from fireing that a flare 10 cm in front of him, he wont see shit. also they are very nice to humiliate people by killing them with the flaregun, that is almost harder than killing them with the British smoke grenade.

You're assuming the MG position has high enough settings to see the flare as more than a white ball; in my case, with low settings, that's all it is, and so flares don't do squat.

Plan your strategys accordingly. :D
