Machony LeeounIt's actually been improved abit since then, we got a new skybox and ambience playing on the back round along with all of our new vehicles we added in 2.5.

A good tip for any would-be hedgerow mappers is to paint their shadows manually, light mapping thousands of them is a bitch.

It is your Bocage, look three posts up and you'll see :D

Oi, what are you doing here? Oh well doesn't matter. I took the screens from the latest version, I didn't know of any new release.. secretely I'm always checking out other mods for fancy stuff myself. I could imagine the shadow job.. although I don't know what would be worse; the incredibly long generation wait, or the absolute mindkilling work of painting hedgerow shadows manually. Respect man.

Bocage the map itself is pretty darn fine. Too bad DICE cut out like 75 percent of it.......add more flags around the map, hedgerows, touchups and polishing here and there, and voila! I think thats how XWWII did their Bocage, right? Anyways, hedgerows don't look so good, but I guess it's cuz 1942 just can't handle foliage well.

The XWWII Bocage is currently best in class by one mile or more. Here are some more screenshots, foot soldier perspective this time. I disagree (strongly) to the clame that these hedgerows are not good. Virtual warfare on this map would be something completely different to DICE Bocage. The concealment in the hedgerows and reduced relief makes it another game competely even if is is similar. view_sawmill_windmill_bocage_small.jpgallied_main_bocage_small.jpg I now quite a lot about landscape modelling, and it is obvious to me that XWWII crew is doing something beyond what I have seen in other mods to recreate landscapes. They justly deserve cred for this. Look at Midway (is this map released now?) midway_map_real.jpg This is the original. midway_map_xwwii.jpg XWWII map layout. NICE TERRAIN MODELLING! More midway screenshots: http://home.no/thcsp/xwwii/midway/midway_sand_island_airstrip_xwwii.jpg http://home.no/thcsp/xwwii/midway/midway_village_xwwii.jpg IMHO FH has improved much in terms of the static map layout in the latest versions/maps (Gold Beach, Sector 318, Breakthrough, Goodwood and Falaise + the very best one Operation Nordwind1944) but FH can still learn from XWWIIs approach to landscape modelling. (PS: I don't play XWWII - seem like few ever do :( I mostly find empty servers - but I am still fan of their maps - although not all of them. Some of their Normandy maps suck. I have a dream of mating the FH vehicles and weapons (+kits) models with the XWWII static maps)

Thanks for all the screens! It sure looks great.

Maybe a little big for my aching infantry feet ;)

I sure need to check the latest XWW2 out.

noone has mentioned this yet, but XWW2 bocage also added in new flags, 2 cappable in the north, uncappable german main in the north, Church flag, and one cappable and one uncappable allied flag in the south.
