Operation Flashpoint 2 will probably have flyable choppers, and Enemy in Sight may have flyable aircraft. Both OFP2 and Enemy in Sight mention 30-50 vehicle types, the number of players on each map is speculated from 100 to several 100 I know nothing about programming, so the following is not expert opinion; Tanks; the tanks in Battlefield have a very short trajectory, requiring modification, whereas in these games the trajectory will be much flatter and more realistic. The tank model and animation will make up most of the work Infantry; the infantry will have submachineguns and sniper rifles which can be used directly as WW2 smgs and bolt action rifles AK47 could form the basis of MP44/BAR Ironsights are standard A new model and skin will be needed for the infantry Aircraft; sadly an unknown, but if the Su 25 Frogfoot and Thuderbolt 2 ground attack jets are flyable that would be great, since they both have top speeds of about 400 - 500 mph and are very maneuvrable, which is the same as mid / late war fighters like the Mustang, BF109 F/G/K, Spitfire IX, La 5, Yak 3 etc and just 40 mph faster than early war fighters like the BF 109 E, Spitfire 1, Hurricane etc. Map Size; the maps in Enemy in Sight will be 100 square kilometers, OFP 2 is just expected to have 'huge' maps. Opposing teams spawn on opposite sides of the map, many kilometres from each other. If they have huge numbers of vehicles, particularly jeeps and tanks, then they can get to the front line quickly. Relatively huge maps will be great for realistic aircraft handling Buildings and environment; vanilla buildings, grass, trees, rocks roads etc can be used Shells creating craters, knocking down buildings, meaning only bunkers provide protection, trees being knocked over/burnt down, digging trenches should be cool Best to wait until the game's release to verify flyable aircraft and number of players/ potential mod downloaders
Don't believe all the hype. BF2 was supposed to have 100 players and fully destructible. Those games won't be released in the near future so it's better to concentrate on BF2.
Well, Enemy in Sight is scheduled for late 2005/early 2006, Vietcong 2 late 2005, and OFP 2 2006 If Enemy in Sight does have impressive destructible buildings and all the other features plus good netcode it will be far and away the best multiplayer vehicular action game
And undoubtably there'll be a plethora of WW2 mods for them. It's a given :)
Yeah, but I do like Forgotten Hope for its attention to model and texture detail and the great settings (Crete, the Eastern Front maps). Hopefully these mods will be have the same level of detail
Just stay with bf2 plz
Best to wait for these games to come out then see how popular and good they are. At the moment BF2 is the best multiplayer vehicular combat game out, but by the end of the year Enemy in Sight may be out and it could have a much better engine. Forgotten Hope could be great on it.
I would believe the hype for OFP2. Have you ever played number one?
From what I've seen of EIS it's going to be a great game. All the problems with the OFP publisher/developer have made me alittle hesitant towards it.
I would love buildings that can be destroyed like Mech-Assault.
