A foxhole would be simple to make. Since you can't hop up on ledges (like cod2) they might be hard to get out of though.

SacredLizard In the end, I cant personally think of a real good way of making diggable foxholes for bf2... which is fine with me, since I really believe that nobody should be digging during these games.

I guess you could make a static foxhole with a destructable top and have a shovel destroy the top revealing the foxhole. A dumb idea to me considering they should be dug before fighting even starts but if someone must build a castle in the sand you are pretty limited.

Pools in BF2 are made just like BF1942. You lower the ground a bit and place the actual pool object, but in BF2 there are water objects: flat "boardlike" objects which have the same physics as non-object water in BF2. You can place these water objects just like any other object ingame.

If you don't lower the ground under the pool, then you'll just get a pool which is filled by the terrain.

Hope that answers your question Chanquad.

Perhaps you mean those natural defilades created by large bombs in the gorund? Cuz, like sacredLizard said, it would kill gameplay to have people digging Plenty around the place - Not to mention the RAM issue - And if they are hidden holes, then where to dig...Infact, why DIG!? If the level could have holes created anywhere, that'd be more useful for the effect of shell fire I'd say - IF it doesn't give issues to the AI's moving around. but digging in FH - We might as well implement a mess or ability to dress up for battle: face paint, GILLI helmet and everything.... No offense to the suggestion, but it does leave a lot of issues. That said, I think there defintely needs to be work done on the maps in terms of cover positions and holes. Those in FH1 are always too shallow for anything... And that damn Bumbae or whatever that motor howitzer is called has its top gunner always give me a headshot even when I'm hiding in that hole in the Bulge map - The one just across the stone bridge from the German base... Plus, I hated the fact that the holes in Ramelle Neuville weren't useful... Those in the movie were good for at least something...

cool i didnt know there was so much textbook stuff around foxholes, i thought they were only quickly dug holes with all kinds of debris or log around them just for tempoary cover... so yes they should be in.

I was thinking lately (Influenced by watching alot of Ww2 edu-tainments), if there are foxholes, and looking @ the detail of FH2's screenshots, I'm sure there would be, some of these should be spawn areas. Imagine having like 20 podge holes in a defensive perimeter and until you cap the flag, enemy units would continue to spawn in them and resume firing.... Not big an idea, but it might do alot in terms of gameplay if people actually spawned IN the various holes

Is it really neccasery to ressurect an old thread like this? However, i do think foxholes should be added though. They shouldnt be used just for spawning purposes. They should be used aswell for defensive purposes. Be sure to place them on locations where they are actually usefull, though. Placing foxholes on locations where nobody ever comes is entirely pointless.

better than creating a new thread called 'Foxholes' wont you agree? I think not having foxholes is like not having trenches or underground bunkers...Bf42 didn't think these important, FH sure did...And we're justified for their judgment. So yer, defintely in and in strategically correct use... i wonder which is more sensible: Crouching in a foxhole or lying diagonally to see and fire over the edge as you can't curl like they could in real life

Now that you mention it, yes.

Tactical use, not strategic use. Strategic is long term plan of action to achieve a particular goal, such as capturing a certain area. Tactics is the methods of engaging and defeating the enemy in battle, a good example of tactics is trench warfare, ambushes, encirclement, etc, etc. :)

i wonder which is more sensible: Crouching in a foxhole or lying diagonally to see and fire over the edge as you can't curl like they could in real life

Seeing as we can only stand, crouch and go prone ingame. It would seem to be more sensible to crouch in a foxhole. Anyway, i hope we see different types of foxholes, from simple holes in the ground to foxholes that can house several soldiers with overhead protection and narrow grenade slits and such.

One thing that has always frustrated me on all of the BF games is the crouching behind windows, logs, fences, et al and you cannot see over it. I want to be able to take cover and crouch and still be able to shoot at my enemy; not stand up to shoot.
