Since the French are to be coming in before the Italians I thought a French aircraft thread was relevant.

FH has a good grasp of French aircraft. Are there any you think should be added?

Currently we will have...

Dewointine D.520 fighter

Curtiss 75 Hawk fighter (export P-36 Mohawk)

P-47 Thunderbolt fighter (not sure how many served with Free French)

Breguet BR.693 light bomber

LeO 451 light bomber.

HERE's WHAT I WOULD ADD:

Loire-Nieuport LN411 Naval dive bomber

Bell P-39 Airacobra (Free-French) fighter/bomber

Bloch MB-152 fighter

The French never got them. They barely got the P-36's they had in service before the Germans attacked. Not many pilots were certified in it before the invasion.

Just for historical knowledge, in case your interested.

" In April 1940 production priority had been accorded to delivery of 140 generally similar Hawk 81A-1 fighters ordered by France. None, however, left the assembly line before the Nations Collapse and, instead, were diverted to the UK where they were designated Tomahawk I. "

Page 80, "The Conscise Guide to American Aircraft of WW2" by David Mondey.

So the French did order them but never had a chance to even see them. Even if the French had recieved the P-40's Im not sure if they would have made a difference with the generally inexperienced French fighting the German Spanish Civil War veterans like Galland.
