Hi guys,

I was rather lazy killing scores of Brits and tried other mods: Pirates, and Reality mod.

Pirates - sucks, FH2 is so much better.

as for PR, well well... I think Firebase or a forward base is an excellent feature in PR and FH should use something like it. Once the battalion pushes to a certain point, it establishes a firebase and prepares the position for counter attacking enemy units. (almost like creating a new flag zone).

Why this is important? because in that way AA and gun implacements could be build near the firebases and thus randoming the AA location for better protection against air (but put sandbags around it for anti-spawnraping) . A firebase near the flag also locks the flag as long as the firebase is standing. As well the firebase or anti tank diches, sandbags or trenches need building and team effort for which the builder is rewarded with teamplay points. I mean there is a sense of teamplay in PR and there is an almost complete a lack of it in FH2. I don't remember anyone using the VOIP in FH2 public server, as for PR - thats another story. Nobody would let you into a squad or a tank if you lack a mic or brains.

The other extremely useful tip from PR - random flags. As of PR 0.856 maps, the map has around 8-9 possible flag locations and usually has 3 flags to cap/defend. with the Push mode.

This makes the map different everytime you play and possibilities to lay ambush are endless. I think such a feature together with the PUSH mode would be great. It is kind of sad to flip flop from one flag to another in Mersa Matruh to find that Garwala is captured by Brits. In WW2 the mode was to push, or encyrcle (push from both sides) and then, push the centre.

All in all, PR has very important teamplay improvement scheme, FH2 could could use it at some extent for the sake of teamplay. Because at the moment the most of the players are scorewhores, ubertankcommanders (I am one too :D) with 60-2 scores and the whiners who can't get a decent tank and whine about 0-9 scores (i.e.: Desert rat)

Trust me the gameplay will change... A LOT... with the release of 2.2 As to your other suggestions, we had these discussions in about 5 other threads so why start a new one?

Reporter, the point of posting it again is to keep it alive and make sure that the contributions of others are not forgotten.

And yes, looking forward for 2.2 :)

Just wanted to protect you from the flames. ;) In the desert the tanks were kings, in the small confines of the orchards they are mere pray. Just wait till you see it and then ideas like firebases (which are perfect for scenarios like those played in PR) will become obsolete.

Though the idea of random flags has it's charm, iirc it has the downside that on those flags it is impossible to implement vehicle and kit spawns.

Ah what am I saying, just be a bit more patient and wait till you see the beauty of lets say Lebisey.

i m not saying PR is a bad mod it has lots and lots of great features but also bad stuff ... i like to play their new release but only for like a week

About FH2 lack of teamplay: You do realize that PR has been out for so long (2005? PRMM which it was called back then) that it has had time to gather big and strong fanbase that has also learned throrougly how the game is played and has started using all means to further that.

FH2 on the other hand has been out for a year and has only one theater that may not interest most people because of its tank oriented nature (although there are now also many excellent infantry scenarios thanks to 2.15!). So just give FH2 players time to improve their teamplaying effort (already there are squads that make use of VOIP that were nonexistent when FH2 was released and they are always full).

EDIT: I must also confess that I'm hardly ever in squad. Maybe my playstyle that is to be blamed but I'm still playing for the team and not just racking scores. But still my best rounds have been those when I've been in a good squad.

And I was wondering why did you disappear from hslan otto. Though the idea of "holding" the flag until firebase (or something else) is destroyed, is rather tempting and would prevent flag switching every 2 minutes. Unfortunately not everything that works in PR would be good in FH2 and this is due the difference in speed of gameplay. In FH2 you can be flanked within seconds and have to respond immediately to keep up with your surroundings.

IIRC devs have the philosophy of allowing teamplay not forcing it. While PR attracts some people with it's style others are bothered with it.

Concerning what you mentioned in about lack of VoIP and thus teamplay in FH2... WHAT? Are you kidding me? I always find a squad with mics and at least two playing in organized manner (taking the conditions of dynamic battlefield in FH2). And if by any means you won't find a squad with sufficient level of teamplay you can always make your own and be the first one to start talking. Don't expect to recieve teamwork at your whim, be the one to give it to others, step forward with it and show everyone else that commiunication via VoIP isn't something to be ashamed of.

Well summed up Mokusaku and Kubador!

Squad Names like "VOIP" or "Teamplay" often are a good indicator for a good squad to join, also different names to "Alpha" "Beta" etc are a good sign, as the guys opening such squads take their time and identify with it, in other words lead it. I always open a "FtN" Squad or a "FH2Fans" and use voice, even though the voice sign seems to be broken in my build. I can hear people but I can't see the indicator, neither when they speak nor when I press the button.

I would use my mic, but I can't seem to get it working. Probably a PEBKAC issue...
