definitely alienware. i'm getting a gaming laptop from them and my friend has a desktop from them. despite what you might think they are VERY competitively priced. Here is an article showing how much more you can get for less from alienware.
imo, don't. laptops do not make great gaming machines. They can keep up, but barely. and they're expensive.
Laptops USED to not be good gaming machines.
The good part about two companies having a tech war is we get the spinoffs.
ATI and Nvidia are both hot at work on excellent 3d graphics for laptops.
ATI recently released the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700. The chipset performs somehwere between a Radeon 9600 and a 9600XT.
And Nvidia has their Geforce FX GO 5700 chipset.
And now there are ATA133 7200rpm 2.5" laptop HDD's . Combine that with 3GHz CPU's and 512MB of RAM or more and there are laptops that outperform my desktop systems.
And Alienware now offers a socketed graphics module that can be replaced and upgraded so when the next graphics chipset becomes available you can upgrade.

now i know that a little expensive, but i went all out. you can get ones that cost quite a bit less.
Thats what I mean, except for the HDD your system smokes my desktop system. And I currently have a GF4 TI4200 and your graphics outperforms that.

NO. Alienware is far from the pinnacle. It's stock parts in an ugly case. Now, with their laptops, its another story, though they weigh 10 pounds. However, I question whether you will be able to fit a PCI Xpress card with the AGP adaptor into a small case.....
