Finally I have to post here, I have been waiting for someone to post a great idea on how to make it work actually. Hasn't happened, so here you go: Not possible. Ever tried to refuel a Natter in SW? Not possible. Have you looked at your fuel indicator in a Natter lately? No matter if you go full speed or stand still, same drain rate. Can we change that? No.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :(

Well lets hope that bf2 (or an other engine if bf2 -the enigine- sucks) supports this then.

Major HartmannFinally I have to post here, I have been waiting for someone to post a great idea on how to make it work actually. Hasn't happened, so here you go: Not possible. Ever tried to refuel a Natter in SW? Not possible. Have you looked at your fuel indicator in a Natter lately? No matter if you go full speed or stand still, same drain rate. Can we change that? No.
Ok, here is a vague idea from someone that does not know anything about modding: Lock the wheels under normal circumstances. Make the threads on the outside of the model dummy threads, and the actual threads that move the tank more inside the model (maybe make them invisible). Under normal circumstances, those moving threads will be elevated, not touching the ground, so the tank won't move. But when you press a fire button (sacrifice co-ax gun from driver and give it to gunner?), those threads lower, making contact with ground and start moving. Now, pressing the fire button, will use regular ammo (make it soundless and invisible with no collision meshes). So, when that ammo is out, you will not be able to press that button anymore, and the threads will no longer touch the ground, so the vehicle won't move anymore And i couldn't leave this quote alone:
The idea could be okay if implemented correctly but this hole thread is based on a flaw and that is that there is such a thing as an Uber tank . . .. there isn't, neither in game or out is any tank Uber . . . . don't get me wrong I love the tanks, I am most often a tanker, but they are all plane bait and even on boards with no air support the M36, M10, SU-76, Bazooka, Piat, Panzerfaust, Panzershreck, and satchel charges all take them out with ease not to mention all the emplaced and towed guns. Staying alive when you are the prime target is not easy, I average way more kills in a T34 then in a King Tiger . . . .

Pubbers prolly won't live long even in the Tiger, but as i said, expereinced players, especially those playing in the clan most often do. Not all maps have airsupport. Take Goodwood or BotB for example. My clanmate always gets a Tiger (cause he is the first to load), and then he keeps it for the duration of the whole round, without dieing once. Partly because of his experience with it, partly because of our support (we communicate on TS, we provide him with infantry support, ammo, relay enemy position, etc) He knows the map, so he will take out enemy ground guns that are not occupied by our forces, and will avoid staying in thier line of sight. He is not going to move close to the base, so he always knows when the enemy is coming for him. Bazooka, Piat or even Panzerfaust will not kill the Tiger in one shot, unless its fired from above. And as i said, he is not stupid to come into urban area where he will be fired at from above. In addition he always has us (other clanmates) acting as close infantry support for him, so no AT will sneak up on him. And of course, any damage he takes is quickly repaired by our engineers (he himself is an engineer). It's fun when we work together. But when the teams are unbalanced, and i might go to the opposite team, its virtually impossible to take him out. Don't believe this? Join Dead Meat FH server and see for yourself

Ouch...again Hartmann shot us down...;)

Anyway, maybe in the far-far-away future (BF2) it may be available.

:)
