State whether you are opposed to or in favor of giving the support class a mortar.

IMO giving the support class a redeployable mortar would be a great addition to the game.

Now they are hardly used, because A) they are only in a few maps, and those positions are not always favorable for using them to any effect on the enemy; B) the artillery system is cumbersome, and C) the mortars do not function correctly.

A is fixable by giving the support class a mortar. B and C would not be extraordinarily difficult to implement, I think.

I tried to think of the downsides of giving the support class a mortar, but couldn't really think of any. It wouldn't make the support class far too good, because it still would have only a knife, a heavy machine gun that is poor at close range, and a mortar that is even worse.

So, what do you think?

Well i am for it because to me arty is the only realism feel i can get in the game, there is no such thing as fighting in companies, platoons, squads ect. ect. and tank battle is much worse. So that leaves me with artillery to deal with. It is the only thing i enjoy doing, but the downside about putting a motor in support class is the fact the NO ONE calls in for arty support and if they do, you are already in a tank, becauseyou've been standing around the mortar for 5 hours hoping for a target.

I dunno - this might up the Support class way too much...

MG34 (or MG42) and a mortar? Guys, this could be a heavy burden to carry... both in terms of weight of equipment and of game balance...

Though it might be nice to try on a single map if works out.

I'm all for whatever there was historically (since this is a realism mod). Anyone know for sure about it?

no way man, theres plenty kits here and there that have a pistol.No need to go and create an uber class with a knife an already deadly lmg and then a mortar???
