This is partly related to the MODDB interview since you mentioned the introduction of a grappling hook kit in the map "Giarabub" to make room for some real LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) assaults! It got me wondering should the Gebirgsjäger (German Mountain Infantry) also get grappling hooks as part of their standard equipment ?

I agree with it for realism, but what would you use it for in Sfakia?

Flyboy: if they work identically to the grappling hooks in Special Forces, that would work.

Great idea. They should also place some hidden kits, MGs, among other stuff on the roof in that case. If it cases bugs or glitches in Sfakia I'm against it though.

It would sure make the gameplay more interesting. Although it may get annoying. Especially being that the Germans would have yet another large advantage.

You might very well think that

Remember - only statics (not 'ground' - map surface) can be 'hooked' onto. That means no scaling cliffs unless you put a static on the edge. Also, all buildings would need to be mapped for climbing on - as this isn't the source engine, not everything relies on the same set of physics parameters. So it would require a lot of work on the buildings.

One thing that would be nice, were this not possible - have a grappling hook hanging off the back of the kit equipment for some of Gebirgsjager - Recon, Rifleman and NCO perhaps. Make them really look the part.
