I suppose I gain when I hear the other side clearly announce to everyone, including their potential victims (including me), that they're tossing a grenade. But I don't like to be so charitable on the rare occasions when I hazard a toss. Is it part of the fate that is the BF2 engine that this can't be made voluntary? In other words, would the only alternative to shouting be for modders to eliminate the warning altogether by making the sound file a moment of silence?
Now I'm gonna do it...
PR has it No shout in the throwing, but from the "Q" shoutings.
uhm... the voice command is put there by FH2 devs, and can be removed, but its been decided that it should stay for a number of reasons. In reality, an enemy player who hear you shout, will never be able to "hide" from your nade, so it doesn't destroy your sneaky tactics... which ofcourse arent so sneaky anymore once you've declared your presence by throwing a hand-grenade into the flagzone. :)
I´d prefer the "PR" setting with the comm-rose shouting. It jsut gives you more flexibility in combat. If you want to use it it´s not big deal because it can be used quite well when the soldier is priming the nade so you don´t lose any time. And if you want to stay silent you don´t need to use it. Of course a grenade exploding will tell the enemy you´re here but not using the voice command can be useful when you´re mounting a suprise attack: A shout can be heard but a grenade flying into enemy area won´t be spotted until it explodes.
No, will not change, it's a warning for your team mates

Just last night I was playing with my clan, defending Mussolini Piazza (Fall of Tobruk) from enemy attacks down in the bunker with my squad. Numerous times I escaped the flag room after hearing "Grenade!", just before the nade went boom. So yeah.

But why would I want to warn my teammates, if they are nowhere near me? Add 3 bloodthirsty Germans with mp40's in the bomb crater nearby and I would rather keep my mouth shut. You can still warn teammates with the q command, as long as it can be accessed farely quickly. If you don't, there will be a good chance you'll get punished with minus score, so people will use it, if nessacary.
Kradovech, your faith for videogames players is thrilling. I am sorry, your argument is not supported by reality, 95% of players throw the grenade and don't bother. The mandatory shout warns the mates and saves their lifes, and that's the truth
I thought it was 93.46% of players...
And it also saves the lives of enemy soldiers. And that's also the truth. I don't want to bring up the "it works in PR" argument, so can someone do it for me?
Seriously, why not give it a shot? I'd like to think that FH players are not complete morons, after all they do use the mine flags. The situation regarding this was not THAT bad before the patch and back then we had no such command of any kind.
That's not true, you didn't hear the shout, but the other players hear it, in 2.15 the change is that you will hear it too.
Really? That's strange. I guess its my kind playing with me then. Carry on.
