this has been discussed. the answer is no. maps are too small for such huge weapons. thats it. dont aurgue, the devs have put their foot down on this one.
Try loading up the Gold Beach map, and spawn in the axis main base. They have the Todt battery. It's no Dora, but it's still dang big.
While I don't know anything about the histories of huge weapons like Dora or Karl, perhaps their could be maps where they were include as static, non-working objects like I a base with their own spawn points or something in which the opposing side has to take. At least they'd be cool to look at.
Assuming of course there was any historical events that can justify the mission. I know how the history buffs get.
I think it can to be static weapon, and "Search and destroy" map.
I am not saying use that as "vehicles" Or no?
I guess they could implement then as boring old objects just like the implement anything else.
Is this the railway guns? I thought they were WWI vintage? Anyway there is Bigger guns ingame in FH0.7. IIRC there has been none larger than IJN Yamato (ingame, Battle of Midway map) and IJN Mushashis 18.1" batteries. A single gun mount for these had the weight equivalent of a mid-sised destroyer loaded for battle and all that, plus the fact that there were many guns of this calibre and incredibly many smaller guns (especially AA) aboard the ships, means that when it comes to GUNS, BIG GUNS nothing matched the pride of the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy). On a side note, by the time of the 2nd world war, BIG GUNS were hopelessly out of date. They were shown time and time again to be outmaneuvred by much smaller, more agile and more numerous aircraft. The pride in big guns was foolishness, as the japanese showed themselves in the attack on Pearl Harbour (which was the start of the war in that area...), the big guns (a.k.a. Arizona, etc) were simply sunk by air power and/or torpedoes. In the battle of Surigao strait, which was the final shootout for the dreadnoughts of the US Navy, the lighter destroyers made almost as much damage with their torpedoes with as the "closed T" battle line formation of Oldendorf's battleships. In other words, one can make a decent WW2 game without the big guns, as they played only a minor role compared to aircraft.
So no Adolf cannon:smokin: ?

Would be interesting to have as an objective in a "what if"-map. British SAS or partisans making their way to it and blowing it up with tonnes of C4 or something:rolleyes: .

the "Dora" was a massive railway gun with a calibre of 80cm (bigger than yamato guns). here is a picture of its ammunition and the gun itself (note the guy standing next to the shell and the gun.)
the "Karl" was a giant, self propelled mortar (60 cm).
