Well since you have a 2.4ghz p4 w/800mhz FSB, try and get rid of that to upgrade to a 3.0 or higher, and the FX5600 can go as well, someone who has can recommend something better... Upgrading just those should make it go ZOOM! And even more... 512MB pc3200 ram sticks are only about $65 now, 3 months ago I paid twice that.

If you mean PCI-E I doubt it. Just stick with an 8 AGP and you will be fine. Grab a GOOD video card. ATI 9800 or higher and a total of 1 gig RAM and you will notice a difference.

If on a tight budget you will notice a difference by adding to you system memory. You can add two 512MB sticks very cheap now. Also if you want a decent low cost vid card you could go with a Nvidea XFX GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X (TigerDirect has this on sale for US$80). Not the top of the line but for what you need on you budget you will notice a major difference. As for you mother board and CPU they could be upgraded but at this time if you chenge the two above items you will notice a major improvment. The other item you may want to add to or upgrade is your hard drive. 80gig is not that big with the size of the games out there these days.

Get 1 GB of PC3200 RAM.A good CPu and a vid card is useless if you don't have enough ram.

why get an FX5500 when he has a FX5600? i suggest a Radeon 9800 or X700 (AGP?) or a GeForce FX5900 or a 6600gt u can get 512MB of RAM for very little now, so really its a must, 1GB will make ur system run so much better. and as for the hard drive, if you have the money then you can get one, but if u dont, ull be fine. Just dont clutter it with DVDs and all kinds of games and programs that no one ever goes on. It is however, worth considering to upgrade when u do have the money. You can never have too much HDD space in my eyes

I was figureing he could double his video memory for cheap money. The 6600 goes for $170 and the Radeon is $170-180.

definately.

512MB sticks of RAM arent too expensive now days. you will be needing 1GIG sooner or later and it wont hurt your performence at all. i only have 768 right now, and im wanting an upgrade very badly.

check out some Corsair. it's really great stuff.
