In the original DICE models there are basically two kinds of bunkers. One is the small rounded front one and the other is the square one (I dont think there is a destroyed model for the square one).

What about making the bunkers destroyable? That way it would give a reason to have Engineer tanks like Churchill ARVE with the spigot mortar or if Infantry call for a tank to take out bunker. It would also give close air support a target.

It has been mentioned that destroyable buildings consume lots of CPU power but that doesnt make sense to me. You use a static model, game only has to track hit points.

If you take the static model and assign it hit points and when it expires those hit points, puff of smoke, flash of flame, and the static model disappears instantly by modifying how long wreck lingers. Then have destroyed static model spawn immediately and no more need to track hit points anymore.

This could work well for stuff like Bocage area, Siegfried line, etc.

I agree... This is good idea but making one object destroyable mean that every object has to be destroyable so thats mean alot more details and stuff making the game laggy.

Mmmm why would it mean you have to have all objects destroyable? Only certain items need to be destroyable.

well it makes the game look stupid if only one object blows up. like if i were someone who would be judeging a game and it has only 1 object that can be destroyable ill be pretty mad becasue it would make the game look stupid and people be like so u can blow up a bunker made of concrete but not a house made of wood???????? pretty stupid game i might say doesnt even make it look real

Hmmm, maybe you could make the bunkers on Charlie and Omaha blow up after the Yanks take it, so if the Germans push them back they will lose there advantage over the beach. They'd have to set up a crude defensive force on the embankment outside and set up guards inside the bunker to make the Yanks don't get the flag.

I think somebody meant that somebody moving in destroyable statics uses more CPU power. But I have no idea how the BF engine works, I guess a dev would have to explain to us.

Well, it's worth trying it out on those maps or just putting the feature on them since those bunkers are one of the games most deadly.

What I had in mind would be something like if Im advancing up a road and a A/T or MG bunker opens up a Engie tank with the big gun should be able to roll up and blow it up or a engie with a satchel should be able to run up and drop a satchel on the bunker and blow it up.
