hey, i was at school a couple of days ago trying to install steam, i figured out how to install it (it was kind of hard) but then when i tried to play, it was not able to get an open port to make a connection, i think the firewall, or some unseen security setting was disabling it, about a week later i came in and tried to install enemy territory, thinking it might work, the instalation completed, but once again, it wasnt able to load or refresh a server list. All of our computers run at around 2.4 ghz and all have 64 meg graphics cards and 512 ram, so i dont think thats the problem. Is there any way i can open up a port to get a connection? All the computers run on windows XP and the user accounts r pretty controlled, but still hackable, please help

I believe there is software out there that can re-route ports so it routes ports through open network ports (such as port 80).

Also for most Q3 based games just type +set net_port 80 and it'll use the HTTP port to connect which usually works.

heh, at my school all you had to do was open command promp and type ping *computer name*, and our network would be down for hours. That would include our internet connection, so I guess this post is completely irrelavant.
