O.K heres the deal i installed linux yesterday and it works fine, but now windows doesn't boot in the dual boot. So i just finished talking w/ microsoft and the dude didn't know what to do, and he told me that the only thing i can do is buy a new hard drive. ( i have 2). Now i was fine with that, but i don't want to upgrade hard drives until i get a new motherboard, and i don't want t upgrade mother board until pci express comes out and tejas (which is the code name for the next intel pentium (5?). So i'm screwed. I don't have a pc, cause windows doesn't work. If you think you can help me more than the guy at microsoft tell me and i will tell you the super long error message. thanx. :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:
dont worry you can fix this problem, first my tip and many others may agree that you should put these 2 OS on different drives(not mandatory but helps) and install windows second so that windows takes over the primary OS position. Usually linux provides a boot option just before it boots to itself. im assuming this is not showing and thats why your asking. i cant remember off the top of my head were you can reenable this boot option (which is the optimal solution) but when i get home ill take a look for it. I use mandrake how about you? otherwise just reinstall windows and try to install over the current windows in the correct partition and it should give you a warning that there is a windows poot already located there, if youu get this warning then you know window will install over the current install and should takeover primary boot option and youll loose nothing important, (most likely). hope this helps Iv been there before man.

I run Mandrake 9, myself....I'ma patch to 10 soon..... But, uh, ATI, you're SURE you didnt overwrite your NTFS filesystem to put your swap or ext partition, right? I mean, i'm not exactly the luckiest guy with partitioning (I've crossed the 1024 cylinder with my bootable NTFS partition....TWICE!), but well.....some people are clueless about what they're doing and SHOULD stick to M$ products....
oh sry i just saw that people were posting here. after like 2days i stopped looking. I have redhat linux 9.0. But don't worry i just formatted both my hard drives and it worked )i had already formatted one) ur uncle desighned the p4??? AND you make games. O.K everone here is awesome but me. I wish i could make a game :(
Dude, yer only twelve. You'll be awesome someday, i promise.;)
Youre going to help make that happen ;)? My uncle helped design the P4 and the Centrino processors. He works for Intel and he usually tells me about his projects an stuff. You should install SuSE. It has a program that allows you to go more in depth into Linux. Can you boot from a disk? Was that option available when you originally installed Linux?
nice sig. funny as i have the matching wallpaper.
