How do I find out my I.P Address when I am behind a router. When I do a google search, I get the same address for both my laptop and desktop. I want to use remote desktop from a computer outside my network, so I need my I.P. Address.
That is the kind of programs is am talking about. I tried it, and it gives my the same address for both computers.
if they are on the same network they will have the same IP. you need to find you computers local address. go network connestion in the control panel and view the properties of your connection. you should find what you are looking for there
because when behind a router all your pc's share the same ip address. Log into your router's control panel (http://192.168.0.1/ may be different depending on the router used), and under your port settings, open port 3389 for internal and external. click save and you're done. all pc's on your network will be assigned a specific internal ip address that only the router uses to translate which one is which. most of the time, the pc plugged into the 1st port is using 192.168.0.100 and the second is using 192.168.0.101. Again, this will all depend on which router you're using.
