I got a suggestion for a map involving a German train. The objective for the Germans would be trying to get the train of military supplies to its intended destination. For the Allies, they're to ambush the train from any direction possible (except being directly in front of it) with tanks, planes, infantry and the like.

If there's a possible way to program the train to go on a fixed path (and possibly program the way the connected cars turn), that would be good. The Axis would be pretty much stuck inside the train defending it with AT armed cars and AA cars (or firing at Allied forces from open sections of the cars). If Axis players got out of the train (as in going out from the sides), it would be instant death. The allied players, however, would not have this restriction and could attack the train in any way.

If the train is destroyed, then it's instant defeat for the Axis. Getting to the destination would be an instant win.

If the devs ever did do anything like this there would be many to praise their work. Don't know if it will ever happen though (coding, etc.), and a select few have been asking for one for quite awhile now with no results=p

You would have to make a pretty large map for the kind of scenario you're talking about, and it sounds like it would need some complex work to implement it: ie. the instant death for the axis, plus the whole not getting killed instantly while trying to walk around a moving vehicle (thank you BF2 :rolleyes: ).

I'd like to see a regular map with flags roughly laid along a rail-line, thus the train could be used more as a transport then having the victory of the map hinge on it. Only one or two planes in this one, and only fighters; we all know how attack planes and trains mix...

I doubt it would work because walking on vehicles can get you killed due to the engine code in vBF2.

Don't think so... Battlefield 3 engine is based on a Console game engine, the BF:BC, from what we can predict that it is pretty much going to suck.

you are allowed to walk into vehicles on BF2142.. the titan its moving and you can walk..

I had an idea like this one for DoD:C a few years ago... The way I had planed to do it was it's the surrounding that was moving to allow both side to respawn on the train and the to have flags that stays on the cars... I never had the chance to do it, the code was change when Valve bought the mod :(
