RexRaptorWHOA THERE COWBOY! I fly using mouse *only*. Make the bloody arrow keys turn the head.
Mouse and keys, myself. Just make it so that you can set it up however you want. However, Trying in vain to keep the "c" view. Hey, pilots could look up and left and right and up out of those cockpits. Us flyboys are using a tiny window to the world!!!
Wanna go Double Dutch?

Idea: When a player uses an aircraft- they are foced view inside of it. This means- no "C" viewablitiy (basically). So instead of that, pushing C would switch between the regular view, and a view where the pilot would shift his head closer to the front canopy class- so essentially he "zooms in". It would still be a inside view- just closer to the targeter.
Idea 2: Make it so that when in cockpit- the mouse is autoset to look around the cockpit (ex: sitting 2nd seat in truck) and then the keys on the keyboard are auto set to steer the plane. I mean- this seems a bit extreme- but then again- I don't know too many people who use the mouse to fly...(to those who do- I'm sorry)
I fly with my mouse. But a free look should be enabled without having to hold a key as in BF1942/FH1.
Idea 3: At too high speeds, pushing E to bail out of a plane auto kills the pilotee. (Don't mind if's its sloppy, it's just not possible.)
Was bailing at speeds above X km/h certain to kill you? It would porbably be more related to the manouvres of the now uncontroled plane and how badly damaged it was. Bailing from a plane going 100 or 300 km hour shouldn't matter much (though making sure you bail without hitting the tail of your plane might be harder but again this also depends on the direction and manouvres your plane is making). With an entry and exit delay and a delay for the parachute to complete open and slow you down unrealistic bails should already be reduce by a lot. While you were bailing the plane would already have a high risk of slowing down (too much) or making an uncontrolled manoucre that would kill the pilot.
The exit spot should be next to the cockpit on the wing.
Well. First, I like your idears. I cant wait until FH2 comes out because I would like to see how it will be. I am quiet upset that there will no big bombers. Because its fun to have a fully crewed (all of your buddies) working together in one of them. Anyways, It wouldnt kill you when you bailed if your traveling at higher speeds. It would mearly Increase the chances of you of dying. Hitting your canopy, any other part of the plane. Snapping your neck. But its not impossible.

Edit: Idea 3: At too high speeds, pushing E to bail out of a plane auto kills the pilotee if he touches the plane (or anything) while his body is traveling at that speed.
My biggest gripe with the cockpit format in FH1 is the fact that to look around or check your flanks you had to take your hand off the joystick, press shift and grab the mouse to look around. By the time you managed to do this the plane that you knew was on your tail has blown you up. It would be nice to have pilot pivot controls integrated onto something other than the mouse.
hmm i have a Suggestions would it be possible to make the speed an hight counters work ???
you already have counters in bf2 but they are writen down but wouldd clocks be possible ?? it would be so cool and give a nice feeling when you fly
Yeah, some working guages along with side to side views would be great if done the right way. As long as it does not use the mouse to look around, maybe arrow keys or even the w,a,s,d keys for walking/running.
As far as I know BF/BF2 can use either a keystroke or a fluid axis for any command. So if we manage to get headlooking working better than default (you can still freelook in BF cockpits, but you need to press the freelook button, lose control, yatta yatta) then Hawk should be able to look around using arrow keys and the rest of us normal people can use a mouse.

I am proud to not be normal..
We know, Raptor, we know.
