hi having another problem with my IE6... when I have already shut doen IE6, I sometimes see that my CPU is used up to 100%, of which 97% by iexplorer.exe, which I thought I had shut down already... so I have to shut that down in the task manager does anybody know how to fix it?

Just my guess from experience, it might be because of ad-ware on your computer...download Ad-aware 6.0 and do a scan, cuz u might have spam files running in yur system. :uhoh:

Are you sure the process is called iexplorer.exe and not explorer.exe? Have you tried leaving it on for a while to see if the process is ended on itself?

neither iexplorer.exe or explorer.exe should be using that much of your cpu. they never go above 14% usage no matter what I'm doing. Sounds like you may have a download trojan. Take your system offline and run ad-aware then an anti-virus program.

Clarifying some issues:

explorer.exe = Your windows thingy majingy iexplore.exe = Your Internet Explorer iexplorer.exe doesnt NOT exist!

Must be a hack/trojan/adware/spyware/some other program.

Basically ... get rid of it.

checked whole system, nothing wrong. it only happened twice, but it made me worry... every little crap that is wrong makes me worry alot ;) yeah, it was iexplore.exe. i always noticed it when using ASE right after shutting IE... cuz it needed long to scan my maps. so I opened Task Manager and voilla - 97% for iexplore.exe. shut it down, fine again. hope it doesn't happen a third time :)

I generally also ctrl-alt-del and close down programs that are safe to do so without crashing pc

No, get rid of it BEFORE it happens again. Boot into safe mode and search/delete iexplorer.exe.
