There is one battle location that is often missed with the Italians. It was shown in a quite short sequence of Captain Corelli's Mandolin. The battle was known as Operation Asche which was basicly a massive betrayl of the Italian troops by the Germans. The Italians fought back against the Germans for a week on the small island of Cephalonia at the command of Captain Amos Pampaloni. The battle resulted in the deaths of over 5000 Italian soldiers. I believe that this important battle should be in Forgotten Hope. I have posted a link below of some of the information I gathered. http://johnkeel105.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=weapons&action=display&thread=1116297979 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/not_in_website/syndication/monitoring/media_reports/1243615.stm

Those sound like good map Ideas. I think a few more are the Glider Landings in Sicily and Monte Battaglia. A good example of several Italian maps was in Medal of Honor Breakthrough. Looking at that game should bear a few ideas for maps.

I think RTR had some basic concepts for maps that really could be expanded for our FH use. Their use of differing elevations and fixed arty were an excellent challenge and change from the norm. Monte Cassino and Husky are both good choices and this idea pits two new nations in a battle.

Doing the Operation Ash or whatever would be an "experimental" sort of battle, pitting two nations who are allies against eachother, seeing what the outcome will be.

I was working on a version of the RtR Husky map but stopped - I'm now doing one of the German counterattack on the Anzio Beachhead... no Italians though. I know there's at least two different versions of Monte Cassino under construction by other people too... altough I was under the impression that it was the Germans fighting at Cassino...

It was the Germans, the Allies bombed that 14-century old temple to ruins, making it a highly defendable area, which the Germans then occupied. So don't put Italians in there. Cheers, from Gemini's wurst nitemare.

I still want to see the Italians fight off the Germans in this game. It really did happen and it needs to be included. The Germans bombed the hell out of them with planes at Cephalonia. And yes that is right the Italians had alrady signed the armistice with the allies by the time of Monte Cassino and that was a German vs. American fight.

You guys should read up on Monte Battilaga "Battle Mountain" that would be a hell of an infantry battle.
