Karelia is, in my opinion a great map. However the gameplay could be a little fine-tuned with minimal input:
The flags' capture radii of the Russian and Finnish fortifications seem to be too large. If static warfare and teamwork are encouraged in this map, then a smaller capture radius for the flags would help. Ever been in a server where the whole game ends up just trying to get the flag back but is guarded? even when you have neutralized the flag you still can't find that blasted player holding on.
Therefore, this small improvement may help with the gameplay and will require teamwork to capture a flag. The only question is, how small or large should the radii be for the flags.
p.s. Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I searched to no avail.
also, no is2!
The IS-2 might be a bit overkill, since I don't think that many were seen on the Finnish front. There were some, like that one bugger in Siiranmäki that just simply refused to die, even though it was blasted with a PaK40, was tried to blow up by air bombings, etc etc. Finally this one great tank hunter dude with his Panzerschreck managed to get behind the bugger, and shot to the fuel cells, making the tank basically burn to death. But yeah, it's probably a bit of an overkill, a T-34/85 like there was previously would be better, if you want to have a tank there. Plenty of T-34s on the Finnish front...
Then again, the map isn't exactly optimal in many other ways. And just one map to represent to whole summer offensive? Meh :uhm:
T-26 and T-28's please :)
That is an excellent map, and while the IS-2 is pretty powerful I think it is a great choice if there is only going to be one tank. If you are onfoot it makes you think twice about charging up the middle without cover, which really turns the battle into a much more realistic game of cat and mouse. As for the flag radius I think you are saying it backwards. With a larger radius it does promote more teamplay because it is tough (or risky!) for one player to explore the whole bunker complex looking for the hidden enemy. You should have one person sitting in the trench while the other tries to flush the badguy out.
Well first off yes it is a good map. Secondly the IS2 should be in that map because of A. The date of combat and B. Russia WANTED Finland because of resources within and surrounding it. They threw whatever they could at it. And also I think that story with the Faust is bullshit. The IS2 ran on diesel and the faust isn't an explosive device. Diesel is a very hard fuel to combust. You could hold an open flame to it and not get a combustion.
Tank Hunter Pro. the faust isn't an explosive device.
whats that I'm smelling? oh yah, its the smell of bullshit in the morning. if the faust isnt explosive, then how the hell did it destroy tanks smartass.
melted thorugh the armor
melted thorugh the armor
And that causes quite much heat, enough to make diesel burn
PS. It was Panzerschreck
