Now this may seem like a rant at first but I have a point. Ok so about 10 minutes ago I was playing FH on Crete. I was a british guy in a captured flak 38 on the hill. Along comes one of those silent but deadly bf110s and I manage to take him down. While he is on fire and slowly plummeting to the ground (still alive) some jerk in a Vickers MK. VI took one shot at him and got all of the credit for the kill. Now what I am getting at is in FH2 the kill should go to the person that did the most damage prior to death, not who gets the last shot in. If a AA crew in real life shot down a plane and a vickers MK VI took one shot at it seconds before it slammed into the ground it wouldnt make sense to give the recognition and medals to vickers now would it? :uhoh:

I think bf2 already "tries" to do that (fails at times), but i think its doable. Not that i care.. the only good enemy is a dead one, i dont care who shot last.

BF2 does assign kill damage assist points if you manage to take down %50 of an enemies health but don't get the kill shot. Those actually will give you a higher holding on the score board than making the kill itself.

Hopefully that'll follow over.

Just out of curiosity, why do you care instead of saying to yourself "oh good, I lit his ass up like a christmas tree, YIPPIE, I HELPED MY TEAM AND CONTRIBUTED TOWARD THE WIN, boy am I satisfied by the intangible feeling of reward from that accomplishment!" and getting on with the round?

Because players caring about scores is responsible for cancer in laboratory animals, increase instances in spousal abuse over the past decade, aids, ebola, gonorea, over thirteen civil wars, the drug trafficing in south america, Stalin, that time you stubbed your toe, and hurricane Katrina.

You should be satisfied in the fact that your accomplishments during the game mean nothing, stand for nothing, are not worth note, and will ultimately cease to be as soon as the map changes. Afterall who acknowlegdes anyones accomplishments in war?

I usually just hit burning and falling planes with a rifle to get the frag myself. And only because everyone has done that to me. I do it less when playing alone but when I got friends on the servers, I do it more because I like to piss Josey off for stealing his kill. But dont start calling me a frag whore. I am always playing for the team's sake, not for mine. But Im not letting a free point slip away... ;)

^^ :O Frag whore!

I doubt there's really anything you can do about this, even in the battlefield 2 engine. However, it's already been mentioned that BF2 does have a damage kill assist which is the next best thing.

i have information that is relevent to this conversation!

IRL (that thing that is outside), kills are indeed awarded to the person who fired the last shot into the guy, especially in airial combat. however, the kill is usually awarded when the enemy aircraft is disabled (I.E. on fire, missing a wing, etc.)
