I was just wondering, if the mod's not going to port to BFV (or at least for now), could you at least incorporate some BFV features into BF1942? For example, in BFV, passengers in vehicles can shoot their weapons. This would work really well in Forgotten Hope - now, infantry sitting on the sides of tanks are no longer sitting ducks, but can actually shoot back! A jeep with four men won't be a juicy 8-point target any longer, but instead will be a dangerous drive-by shoot-out machine! Stuff like that. I know it's possible to code this because ActionBattlefield has it. If you want to try this, just take a look at their code. Just a suggestion........by the way, keep up the good work, FH! Some additional suggestions: Does anyone else think that anti-tank weapons and light machine guns take too long to shoot accurately? I mean, I understand making the mg34 take awhile to aim, but guns like the Bar and Bren were assault-type weapons, weren't they? Also, I love the wide variety of maps, but do you think you could create more European maps, such as Nueville, Dawnville, Carentan, etc? I think that is one of the only parts of WWII not covered by FH. Any plans for expansion pack support? I know SW and FH are like opposites in terms of realism, but it'd be pretty cool to take Sicily in FH-RtR or conduct secret missions in FH-style..... If these have already been mentioned, I'm sorry, but I tried using the search function and it doesn't work too well for me.
As far as I have understood it right. The BF1942 engine doesn't support that you using your weapon at the same time your in a vehicle...When it comes to the the assult weapons, I say NO..Why? B/c we don't want to have a game were you just "spray and pray" like hit everything in less that 0.5 seconds...Thats the problem with PPSH, it's a real noob cannon, and it's kind of boring to play with a K-98 tifle and get in close combat with one of those...Alot of people in here including me ALWAYS playing with the bolt-action;) When it come to the maps.....I agree
I agree about more Western Europe maps but that is my favorite theatre so im biasesd (thats why i love Sector 318) BFV runs off a different game engine with different boundries on coding. BF1942 to my knowledge will not allow shooting from a vehicle.
Like I said, shooting your weapon while in a jeep is possible - ActionBattlefield did it.....I'm not coding expert so I don't know how, but I know it's possible........ It'd be a cool feature, but I guess not too important. Still, I can't get the image of coordinated drive-by shooting strikes via Willys out of my head........
Good idea. Haven't tried ABF, though.
By the way, I think it's quite funny, how things have evolved since the very first BF mods or mod versions. Almost every feature was supposed to require a SDK or BF:V or could not be completed with BF engine for some reason, but now as we look at the mods, they have pretty much all these things included.. lasers, guided missiles, towable guns, passengers able to shoot from vehicles, trains, switchable ammotypes, removed parachutes, randomized weapons and all that stuff.
Thats true, alot of BFV exclusive features do seem to be possible in BF 1942 after all.
As for the suggestions above, I do think a few more movie based Maps would be nice, like D-Day Airborne Assault and Ramelle. As for the support weapons like BAR and Bren, I think at least the BAR could be fired from the hip. I think that should be possbile in FH aswell although it should be very accurate if used that way.
I may not be a coder but from messing around in surreal, I can say that the trains are deceptively simple, they just move forward and are guided by invisible walls on each segement of track, you couldn't do this because people would be driving trains, not monorails, there are parts where the track may cross a part of the battlefield and if teh invisible wall system is used, the track would prohibit movement.

Yeah, but if you make the walls like 1 meter high you can jump over them and still use the trains...
but if the walls are lower, you can derail the train! :naughty:
i suppose the best thing would be walls that extend down, instead of up, if that can be achieved. even more so when approaching roads, etc. problem could then be that the terrain under the tracks has to be dropped down 10m, and then new ground from statics has to be skinned up.
or worse - if the rails are too wide that somebody would fall into it. now that would be embarrasing.
SDK DANCE! ***techno music and bad dancers***
that would be cool to have, but without an SDK, the best your gonna get is a garand floating above the tank, waiting for someone to hop in and use it... so, no. but the idea is good.
