i was trying do install red hat 9 linux on my laptop but it just froze when it tried to load the first driver. also, how do you pass on commands before you start it. i wanted to try "noprob" when i tried it, it just started installing. then it froze. please help. thanks
are you sure you mounted the hardrive and root directory properly? and were you root when you did this?
sometimes i know if something isn't mounted correctly it can cause a freezeup
When you are installing Redhat 9 you want to set up 3 things:
/boot Set it to about 100-200 MB
/ This is where your data will go... make it however big you want it.
swap file You want to set it up at least to how much memory you have if not twice that. So if you have 512MB, set it between 512-1024.
Is it freezing from a video driver?
More info pls...
I take what n0e says way too seriously

Uh, did you do the checksum to make sure the disk wasn't corrupted?
