Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that when you use the M36 you get sniped straight away.
So i suggest that the devs change the position to that of one crouching in the turret rather than have your head above the turret top, as im sure those who used the M36 in real life didnt go into battle with there heads stuck up for all to see and take a pot shot at, or did they??
The M36 is not a tank, it's a tank destroyer. You're not supposed to go into enemy territory without infantery support. You're supposed to stay back a little and go for the tanks.
The open top is fine so you can toss a grenade in or shoot down into the turret but having the only person in the vehicle driving one of the most powerful Allied vehicles around with his head sticking out to be sniped defies explanation.
The top was open so the vehicle commander could look around so yes a sniper could kill him but the crew generally kept their head down and only popped up for a peek, they didnt ride into combat with the head exposed.
The person in the vehicle should have their head lowered so that the top of the head is below the top of the turret but the top should remain open for grenades and firing down into.

I agree totaly.
I was wondering if the .50 cal on the rear of the turret could be moved to a more useful position like the front.
Seems like there still is a mount in the rear too. Why not have two? :) Don't think they actually got two machineguns in real life, though.
That pic above of M36 also shows an integraly mounted turret machine gun.
Or is it in the Hull ?

Actually, I like to get in the #2 position with a BAR, then exit the vehicle. (you are still in turret) After that, you end up with a very stable firing platform, (not affected by turret rotation) more effective IMO than an MG that moves with the turret.
That pic looks to me to be a M36B1 which uses the M4A3 Sherman hull. I think that is the hull mounted MG which some were left in to give German infantry to think about. I dont think it as accesible because it was behind a 90mm ammo bin.
i dont know, simply lowering the drivers head and put a frontal M2HB with a crouching user, so the gunners head is sticking out, say....as much as the current driver of the M36 would be gerat
