In light of the sub-discussion in the "Carriers"-thread, I'm interested in hearing what the community has to say about a game manual for Forgotten Hope 2. This is in part for all of us to speak our minds, part as a bit of semi-back-seat moderating to keep the carrier thread on-topic (:o), and part to let the developers know how many, if any at all, man-hours to spend on manual-writing.
So, tell us you think about manuals. Should there be one, what should be in it, et cetera.

Personally, I say give us an extensive manual that details every bit of Forgotten Hope 2. To make a good-looking list of it:

 • Nations.
 • Vehicles, maps, and weapons.
 • Every commander's ability.
 • New game-play mechanics (communication, landing to re-fuel and re-arm, trucks, aiming, tanking, tank-hunting, ASW, flying, shell/bullet penetration, etc.).
 • Tips and strategies.
 • Full-color illustrations.
 • Some historical details on each entry.

I don't think this is a waste of time and effort at all, especially given the complexity and innovation of Forgotten Hope 2 and the size of the Forgotten Hope 2 development team. It'll also centralize the information on Forgotten Hope 2 instead of having it scattered throughout forum threads, on-line articles, etc. As for the problem with people refusing to read it (covered in some detail in "Carriers";)), well, that's their loss. Tell them to "RTFM" and don't bother with them:smokin:.

So write a manual, make it look good (like the Forgotten Hope manual), and update it with each patch so that the information in it does not get erroneous.

I don't think the devs should wate their time on it, however they could always get one or two more trusting guys who don't know how to mod to write one up.

In my opinion manual is very important for the serious mod FH2 is and should not be rushed. Even if some players will not look into it it will be giving very good impression and great source of info for all mature players. So simply, I compleately agree with all Safe Keeper's points.

I say no manuel for the moment, i think the devs should wait until all theatres of war are finished then do a manuel with everything in it not just africa, now im not saying wait for FH2 to be totally finished but at least untill all armys and battlegrounds are introduced.

It will be a good task for us betatesters if the devs don't have time for it. It would be really cool to have a nice manual that is up to par with some of the strategy guides that get released for games alot. And updating a manual for every release is alot less work than having to make one big manual that contains everything.

Did FH1/1942 have a manual?

Yes you can either download it or look in your FH mod folder. It's really nice and for FH2 it would be cool to have some more tactics for example on maps.

I disagree here. Just make one with what is in the first release, then update it with every patch. If we are to wait until the game is finished, we'll never get it:p.

Yup. Sadly, though, they failed to keep it updated (I think it's still ,5, is that right?). That being said, it is pretty good. Nice banners, good format, large color pictures.

Also I don't see a point in publishing a manual after most of players have got used to the game and expereinced everything one their own. That rather kills manual's purpose in the first place.
