I posted this in a general discussion thread, but I think it would get more attention here-

To the people asking for DoD style MG deployment in FH2, I think I know an easy way to do it if the engine doesnt let you truly "deploy" on statics. Just code sandbags/trenches/windows and other such objects as vehicles. To deploy your weapon, you go up to the object and hit 'e' to enter it. It would be similar to firing your weapon from the side of a blackhawk or the back of a truck in BF2, except in a static object instead of a vehicle. Code the sandbag "vehicle" to allow the operator to duck for cover (like the static LMG positions in game), and limit the bullet deviation (the gun should be fairly accurate if supported).

Each static could have multiple positions to enter (each window, different spots on a sandbag...), but disable position switching too keep people from teleporting from window to window.

Thoughts?

Lag....BUT maybe when you deploy your gun you have setup an invisible sandbag?

Why would it lag? It shouldnt take up any more resources than a machine gun nest placed by a mapper.

IF everything was "vechile" the game would maybe porcess 12 spaces in 1 house that like 12 tanks planes or other junk. A MG taks up not much but image all these enterable places....

No, I dont see how it would be any different than 12 emplaced MG42's like we have now.

But neither of us actually know the in's and outs of the Refractor engine or are modders, so lets let the devs decide if it would lag or not.

Terrific and very creative idea. I really, really hope it's implemented.

I have to agree. But I'll leave it for those with more experience to give a real answer:o.

Each static could have multiple positions to enter (each window, different spots on a sandbag...), but disable position switching too keep people from teleporting from window to window.

Making each window a separate vehicle is probably a much better idea.

ill give it to the man, its a creative idea that has a shot of working. im gonna root for it until it gets disproven or the devs showcase a better idea

I totally agree, I dont know why I thought to make it more complicated. :bows:
