This idea has been thrown about in a few threads before, but to my knowledge it has never recieved its own suggestion thread. I plan to keep this short and sweet, please discuss below. Wouldnt it be a good idea to replace all the MG42/MG32 "dolphin diving" kits that are found on many maps such as Nordwind, Goodwood, etc with the more authentic deployable version? As of now, the MG's have all of their real life advantages (ROF, power, accuracy) and none of their disadvantages (set up time, weight, multiman crews). This allows for the weapon to be used inappropriately. Everyone here is familiar with RAMBO killing them by jumping around and charging whilst firing away in their general direction. Worse yet are the knife glitch exploiters who dolphin dive with instantaneous 100% accuracy at the first sight of an enemy. Since the class is spawnable, not only is the kit being used inappropriately, the abuse is widespread. Now, I know german infantry tactics centered around the machine gun, so I suggest keeping the kit as a spawnable class (in fact, add it to more maps). However, please change it to the deployable version of the weapon. Because the gun could be deployed rapidly without a tripod in many cases, make the undeployable kit a random pickup at some flags if you must. If you do not approve of this idea for some strange reason, then please remove the knife from normal kits to prevent exploitation. Thank you, your imput is appreciated. Enjoy my non-biased poll. smilie.gif

Always agreed with this.....Although i could see the point of keeping some B.A.R. kits around as pick ups which could be used from the hip. Although again, i dont think many people ran, jumped, dived, zig-zagged, while firing one...

Well, the squad support BAR was used differently than the heavy german machine guns. It fires less ammo per "magazine" and was never really used as a stationary weapon. It also fired as a rifle and in older versions came equipped with a shoulder hoist to keep the gun steady in a standing firing position. My original suggestion was only directed at the LMG/HMGs such as the mg42/32 and the Browning .30s. However, the principle could be adopted for BARs if other people would like that as well. IMHO, I dont think that would work too well.

Good plan. If there's one thing that bugs me, it's the way people run around you while shooting spray and pray style (Which is especially annoying to a pistol duelist like myself! Signed, Revolver Ocelotakimbo.gif , Neon's alternate personality on BFV. M-19s RULE!!!) Totally replacing the MG with the deployable MG would really add to the fun and realism of the mod. Perhaps changing the BAR into a deployable weapon should be considered.

Thing is, in real life, the bipod mgs could 1) be fired while standing 2) did not need multiman crew 3) if the bipod was already down, had no set up time FH portrays the bipod mgs realistically. Maybe make them a little more inaccurate when firing standing or prone.

remember, if you get some things TOO realistic, it takes away the fun.

Add firing delay to them. Riflegranades have firing delay to simulate "loading time". I still don't understand why devs don't add the same firing delay on AT weapons, to counter all those "knive exploiters" as you called them. Not sure if the firing delay could be applied to MGs, considering they are not 1-shot weapons.... but if it could be, then it would be nice

How is forcing people to take 2 seconds to set up the most powerful infantry weapon in the game ruining fun? The people who willingly abuse the machine guns (for several releases) are IMO, ruining the fun of the game for others by exploiting their weapon for an unfair advantage over others. If the "fun" of the exploiters is taken away, so be it. I dont think its too much to ask for a realism mod to take into account at least some of the realistic disadvantages of one of the most deady weapons in the game. Since there were in fact bipod versions of the weapons, they should still be included in the game. However, in pickup kits only. Just reverse the current availability that is in place now.

The same result could be achieved more easily by simply removing the knife.

I'm all for making them deployable only, have suggested that myself too a number of times. Another idea would indeed be to give them a firing delay if possible.
